Chapter 28

1005 Words
Soren had been informed that the parents had a plan, so after work that day, they all had to come to his house instead of everyone going home, mainly Alex and Nathaniel, who they had barely seen since Seth and Lillian began staying here. Once again, like a cycle, the entire lounge room was filled to the brim with everyone in this family. He was near the window, trying to get as much fresh air into the place as possible, with Silas to his right and Ravi on his left. He hadn’t found the right time to ask his sister, but tonight, he would make sure he did. He was sick of Ravi saying something meant for him to understand, but it went right over his head. Despite the window being open and fresh air roaming through the house, it was still warm, and the amount of bodies pressed together was not helping anyone. “Since you’re adults now,” Erza said as she walked into the house, her blazer in hand and dark hair tied up. “We have to start teaching you. We did the hard work, and now some of you are getting your chance. Don’t f**k this up, and do not die.” “Thanks for your support,” Silas muttered, staring at his mother. Erza heard her son’s voice, and she found him in the crowd. She narrowed her eyes before grinning at him. Megan raked a hand through her hair as she looked up at everyone. “We all went through it, and for this one, it will be Midnight, Bailey, Thea, Melody and Isaac. You five are on this one.” Thea grinned as she made eye contact with Melody, who was also grinning. Wendy frowned but waved her hand as she got her text and returned to her phone. She frowned at whatever was on her screen and looked up. “I'm assuming the rest of us can go, okay? Cool, thanks. I’m going out, don’t worry, won’t be back late.” Before anyone could get anything out, Wendy was out of the house faster than any of them could blink. They heard her car turn on, and she zoomed out. “Whose car did she just take?” Sebastian muttered. “Why?” “Her car’s trapped inside. When I pulled in, she was already parked.” Soren looked out of the window, and Sebastian was right. Wendy’s car was still parked there, but his car was not. Soren stared at his father and winced, “She took yours.” He scowled as he pulled out his phone. He didn’t try to ring her, but instead texted her. Ash leaned over his shoulder to stare and snickered. He took his husband’s phone from him, rolling his eyes and sent another test. They heard the woosh. “That’s how you threaten them, Bubbles.” Sebastian sighed but didn’t say anything, instead leaning over and kissing Ash’s head. “Anyway,” Megan said, looking down at her tablet. “Melody and Bailey, you two are going to be taking down the bodyguards. This woman is powerful, and she has the money to support herself. You two take everyone down. Thea, you’re going to hack into her security system and make sure nothing is caught on tape, and Isaac, you’re going to be yourself and get the answers we need.” Ace looked uncomfortable as he stared at Isaac, but when the shorter man looked at him blankly, he shook his head. “When do they go?” “27th,” Megan replied. “In two days?” Ace hissed, and this time, he didn’t bother hiding his worry as he grabbed Isaac’s hand and pulled him out of the room. “What’s got his panties in a twist?” Rick muttered, staring at the spot where the two had been standing. “You just sent his best friend to torture a woman,” Dai deadpanned. “Yeah, he’s going to be worried.” “You have two days to prepare. Scatter, go rest or do whatever you idiots do in your free time. Soren, go find Isaac; he needs to be in my office, and the rest of you also get in there. Roman and Erza, too, oh, and someone find the other two wankers, I’m going to need them too.” “I want to-” Ash didn’t finish his sentence as his husband turned to stare at him. “No.” “But.” “No.” “No, Ash. You are just going to try and kill Seth again, and as much as I love you, we need to get this over and done with so I never have to see any of them again.” It was Erza who spoke up. Ash groaned but nodded, kissing his husband before he left the room. Soren waited, and just as Thea went past him, he grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the group. Silas and Ravi went to a corner of the room, furthest away from everyone. “Is there something I don’t know?” he asked, frowning as he stared at her. “What do you mean?” “Are you all hiding something from me?” Thea stared at him blankly and then shrugged. “Depends, what do you think we’re hiding something from you?” “Ravi said-” “Oh, okay,” she interrupted. “So I kill him.” “No,” he hissed, grabbing onto her arm. “No, he said something. That and I overheard your conversation the first night. Why don’t I remember him? Who is he?” Thea stared and exhaled, gently pulling Soren’s hand off her wrist. “You need to speak to dad about this.” “Which one?” “Either, or both. I don't know, but I can't help you in this situation.” Soren watched as Thea walked away, leaving him with more questions than he had started with. ~*~
