After almost what seemed to be an hour of persuading, Ghost somewhat came around to the idea of the Tomas’s not being bad people after all. But with how late it was and how tired everyone had become, Lillian had asked Erza if Ghost could spend the night inside instead of sleeping in his van as he had been doing for the past week. Erza sighed and agreed to it eventually. Soren was sure she wouldn’t agree, but the second Lillian mentioned Indonesia ‘15, she quietened down and agreed, albeit begrudgingly.
Luca had once again taken on another guest, as Ghost would be sleeping in the same room as Seth and Lillian, as per his request. The two, used to the other man, just sighed and nodded. Soren tilted his head. Neither had argued, and Seth even ruffled Ghost’s hair, to which he had smacked the older man’s hand away. Interesting.
No one had any idea what Seth and Lillian’s relationship status was. Were they together? Married? Friends? Colleagues? Anytime anyone had asked either of them, they had both changed the topic to something else completely, or if it were one of the kids asking, they would say, “You’re too young to know.” Even though their age gap wasn’t bad, most were in their late teens to early twenties.
So, Soren had concluded that they had to hide something.
But Sebastian dismissed them all with a sigh, and Erza didn’t hesitate to grab her wife’s arm and drag her out of the house without hesitation. They shouted their goodbyes to their son, knowing that after the s**t show tonight that Silas would most definitely be sleeping with Soren tonight.
Soren and Silas went up the stairs to the second floor. Gabriel had been slowly trudging up the stairs in front of them, and both men stared at one another but said nothing as they patiently waited for the man to climb to the top. They did scare him a little, but when Gabriel turned to look at them, he looked horrible. He forced a smile and whispered goodnight before going to his room.
Once the duo were inside Soren’s room, Silas began stripping. As he went to the closet, he grabbed one of his loose-fitting T-shirts, and Soren started to take off his socks and pants. A gentle knock, followed by someone walking in, had them freeze in their activities. They both turned to look at Ravi, who was holding a pillow and a blanket. His jaw clenched when he looked at the two of them and raised his eyebrows.
“What am I witnessing?” he deadpanned, a little confused.
“We were about to f**k,” Soren replied, scowling at the man as he pulled his jeans back up. “What do you want?”
Silas groaned. “It isn’t what it looks like. And, despite what Soren said, we were not about to fuck.”
“Can I sleep here?” Ravi asked, turning to look at a frowning Soren.
“No.”
“On the floor,” he said, pointing to where Silas was standing. “I’ll sleep on the floor.”
“Why?”
“Rick is at Luca’s. With Ghost there, when I went over, Luca slammed the door in my face. He doesn’t want anyone else at his for the night. Roman’s at work, and I haven't slept alone in years.”
Soren bit the inside of his cheek. He knew what it was like to be afraid to sleep alone, and as much as he disliked Ravi, he wouldn’t do that to him, so he sighed as he slowly nodded, “Fine. On the ground, and not a peep out of you. I have to be awake at five.”
Ravi’s smile almost lit the room and Soren scowled as he looked away. Ravi not so subtly pushed Silas out of the way as he laid the blanket on the ground and his pillow on top. When Soren realised he had only brought one blanket, he scowled. He went over to his couch, grabbed the blanket, and threw it at the man without a word.
Almost ten minutes later, everyone had changed, the lamp had been turned off, and everyone was in bed. But for some reason, out of all nights, Soren struggled to fall asleep tonight. He had been tossing and turning, and finally, he found a position that seemed comfortable, and just as he was about to doze off to sleep, he heard Ravi.
“Soren,” he whispered. It had been so quiet that Soren had to strain his ears to hear the man speak. He pretended to be asleep and did not want Silas to wake up to this. “I’m glad you’re safe.”
Soren frowned, glad the dark room was masking his emotions for him. What the hell did that mean? “I’m sorry,” he continued. “I did look for you, I promise, I did. Please, don’t hate me.”
After hearing that, he realised there was no way Soren could sleep. Despite the other two men having been fast asleep, Soren stared at his blank ceiling, trying so hard to remember whatever it was that he had forgotten, something that many people around him knew but no one was willing to tell him. And before he knew it, the sun had begun to rise, and his alarm had rang.
He jolted out of his daze and grabbed his phone, silencing it as fast as possible. He winced as he looked behind him, but Silas was still fast asleep and didn’t care. He quietly moved around the room, with the sunlight peeking through the semi-open blinds, making it somewhat easier so he wouldn’t bump into Ravi.
He found his clothes in his closet and got dressed quietly. As he quietly opened his door, he bumped into Olivia in the hallway; she was just about to knock on the door. She smiled up at him and winced when she got a good look at the man. “You look awful,” she said, trying to hide her smile.
“I didn't sleep,” he muttered,
She peeked into the bedroom behind him and closed the door, her eyes wide. “Both of them?” she hissed. “Do your fathers know?”
Soren didn’t realise what she meant until a few seconds passed, and his eyes widened in horror. “Olivia,” he hissed. “It was nothing like that,” he grumbled. “God,”
She snorted as she shrugged and motioned for Soren to follow him down the stairs and into the kitchen. Midnight was fast asleep on the couch, Gabriel asleep beside him on the ground. He frowned but didn’t say anything as he met Scar in the kitchen, who handed him a coffee in a to-go mug.
Olivia grinned as she laced her arm around her husband’s waist. “New day, let’s go, boys. We’ve got work to do.”
