Ciaran gazed at the public screen and knew innocent civilians were going to be slaughtered. He could see that even Janei, Pete, and Aiden—all experienced Sciphils—sweat in fear. They knew the implications.
“We have to rescue our citizens,” Aiden said.
“But we have to stay in our towers during the coronation process,” Pete objected.
“We can’t just let them be killed,” Janei said.
“The power for the coronation has been engaged, Ciaran. All towers have to be locked in now. What’s your decision?” Jake asked.
“I can’t send any Sciphils or guards out there. As soon as you leave your towers, you’ll be attacked. If we lose a tower, we’ll lose Eudaiz,” Ciaran said.
