Chapter 16

805 Words

Chapter 16 The long hallway of Tower Two which connected to the main hall was cold and empty—the kind of emptiness that occurred when the energy was sucked out of it. The bodies of guards were scattered over the floor. The Black Rock creatures’ bodies had evaporated. The ceilings in the hall were almost transparent, and they let in some of the fading light of dusk. It was growing deeper into the night, and Ciaran knew his body was going to shut down soon. The man or the creature they meant to hunt was nowhere to be found. Zach concentrated and glanced around. Ciaran knew he was sending his sound waves randomly, scanning the area. Ciaran hated to admit it, but he had experienced those sound waves before, and it wasn’t pleasant. Zach could hit a frequency that was shattering to the ear.
