Ciaran put Zach down next to the chamber. He was barely breathing and was no longer responsive to anything Ciaran said.
“What are you doing, Ciaran?” Ayana asked.
“I’m taking him in. The chamber will heal him.”
Ayana shook her head. “That only works in normal situations. This wound is fatal. And the eudqi will only heal him if he’s a Sciphil.”
Ciaran realized now why Bran had to sacrifice himself to save him. His injury in the Daimon Gate had been a fatal one. Bran had had no choice but to appoint him as Sciphil Three. He had shoved him into the chamber to absorb the eudqi, realizing that his own injury was fatal and that giving the Sciphil position to Ciaran meant he wouldn’t be able to be healed by the Sciphil eudqi.
