Dalya woke up to the sound of commotion outside her window. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes and looked out to see a flurry of activity. Servants were scurrying about, preparing for some sort of event. She had no idea what was happening, but the atmosphere seemed tense.
As she made her way downstairs, she noticed Ryker looking anxious. "What's going on?" she asked him.
"My parents are arriving," he replied. "They're...particular about things."
Before Dalya could ask more questions, a convoy of luxury cars pulled up, and a team of servants emerged to attend to the arriving couple. Alpha Victor and Victoria Darkwood stepped out of the cars, commanding respect with their presence. Their alpha aura was palpable, and Dalya could feel the weight of their dominance.
As the alphas entered, their commanding presence filled the room. Victor's piercing gaze swept across the space, while Victoria's sharp eyes assessed Dalya. "We will discuss your future, Ryker," Victor said, his deep voice resonating.
The conversation turned to Ryker and Dalya's relationship, with the alphas expressing disapproval. "You're an alpha heir, Ryker. You need an omega who can support your pack," Victoria said, her tone firm. "Dalya isn't suitable for our pack."
Dalya felt the sting of rejection, memories of her past flooding back. She remembered her twin sister's death and how her mother's treatment had changed afterward. The alphas' disdain brought back painful memories of being belittled and turned down every time she tried to connect with her mother.
As the tension escalated, Dalya's mind wandered back to her childhood. She recalled the countless times her mother had turned her away, criticizing her for not being good enough. The pain of her sister's death still lingered, and her mother's subsequent betrayal had left deep scars.
Dalya's thoughts were interrupted by Ryker's parents, who were discussing their expectations for their son's future. "We won't approve of your relationship with Dalya," Victor said firmly. "You need someone who can strengthen our pack, not hold you back."
Dalya felt trapped and suffocated. The thought of facing more rejection and pain was unbearable. She knew she couldn't stay and face the alphas' disdain every day. As the conversation continued, Dalya made a decision. She would run away, leaving behind the pain and the expectations.
With a newfound determination, Dalya excused herself, citing a need for fresh air. She slipped out of the mansion, into the cool evening air. The darkness seemed to swallow her whole, but she knew she had to keep moving. She couldn't stay trapped in a life that wasn't hers.
As she walked away from the mansion, Dalya felt a sense of freedom wash over her. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but she was determined to forge her own path, one where she could find peace and happiness.
