Chapter 13

1002 Words
Dom picked me up after my last class at three. I was expecting his street bike but instead he showed up in a Tesla. I looked at him sideways. “You can’t put a car seat on a street bike Taryn,” he said rolling his eyes. “Yeah, I know. I just didn’t think it would be this soon. I loved the street bike.” I threw my arms around him. “The street bike isn’t safe for either of you,” he said placing his hand on my stomach. “Your brother wants us to meet him at the pub.” He opened my door for me, and I slid into the passenger seat and he closed it behind me. He jumped in the driver’s seat. “I have a surprise for you but before I tell you what it is, we need to talk. Have you decided what you want to do about the baby yet?” “I want to keep the baby.” “Good I was hoping that would be your response,” he purred in his Russian accent, “My parents are flying in to meet you and I was hoping we could tell them. Momma is going to love you.” Now I was beyond nervous but underneath it all was a new appreciation for the man sitting next to me. I truly was one hundred percent in love with this man. I kept sneaking peeks at him as we drove. He was excitedly chatting about his parents and how they were going to be so happy about a grandchild. This totally selfless man who loved me enough to take on this child, even if it wasn't his. i was in awe of him. We pulled up to the pub and parked. We walked in hand in hand and took a seat at the booth Malachi was sitting at. I told my brother what I had decided, and he was supportive. He was going to help Dom and I tell my parents. They were not going to be happy about this. I envied that about Dom. His parents wanted grandchildren as where mine thought I was still a child. I wasn’t even through my first year of college yet. Mom is going to have a breakdown. Just then my thoughts were interrupted by a familiar voice approaching the table. It was most definitely Matti’s voice. My posture stiffened. I didn't want to look at him. I felt sick. My heart was pounding in my ears. When he spoke it was venomous and sent chills down my spine. I squirmed in my seat really hoping he hadn't noticed. I was still pissed at him and still very hurt but there were real feelings there and they hadn't faded. I was uncomfortable to say the least. I felt Dom stiffen beside me. “I hear congratulations are in order,” he sounded pissed, “but tell me, who’s the father?” this time damn near spitting vile at me. Dom spoke, “I am, is there a problem Matti?” “No problem. I’m just waiting on her to come clean because Leena overheard that your about three months along meaning that the baby probably belongs to me. Would you keep me out of my child’s life Taryn?” I spoke up before Dom could answer, “Honestly, Matti, yes there is a chance the baby could be yours, but I wasn’t ready to talk about it with you yet. I love how my business is everywhere because a busybody couldn’t mind her own business. It was my place to tell you when I was ready to tell you.” I was basically screaming at him. Hot tears welled in my eyes, my hands balling into fists. “Taryn, its ok. Let’s get out of here. You should probably be at home resting.” Dom’s soothing voice resonated in my ears. I made movement to get up and Matti grabbed my arm. “Taryn, when you’re ready to talk you know where you can find me.” With that he turned on his heel and went back to the bar and the blonde he was apparently here with. She shot me a dirty look with her mousy features, her blue eyes boring into mine. Her full on pouty lips would make Jessica Rabbit jealous. Her face was twisted up in a sneer and it looked like they were arguing. She was trying to get his attention but he was brushing her off. I could feel Matti’s eyes on us the whole way to the door. We were outside getting in the car and headed home. Home with my love. I was tired but looking over at him, I could not wait to get him home and undressed. This was my man and I was going to show him just how much I loved everything about him. I wanted to show him how much I adored him. I needed this man with every fiber of my being. He set my loins in fire with just a look. He reached his hand across the gear shift and took ahold of my hand, interlacing his fingers with mine. He slowly lifted our hands to his lips so he could kiss the back of my hand. I exhaled a deep breath that I hadn't even realized I'd been holding. I was truly lucky. Our souls resonated together on another plane. He was my soul mate. My biggest fear was the thought of being a dad driving him away from me and scaring him off. He was so confident but would things change after the baby was here? I pushed the negative thoughts from my head and instead focused on the sweet joy I was about to give and then receive.
