Chapter 15

He stopped talking and was waiting for my spew of questions. I had so many questions where did I even begin? All I could do was stare at him blankly I wanted to talk but I couldn’t make my mouth form words. He had rendered me utterly speechless. Then I began to laugh hysterically again. Why was I laughing? I thought I was going to die at the hands of mobsters and here I was being told that I’m going to die at the hands of mystical creatures from fairy tales over my unborn child. What in the actual f**k was going on? Am I being Punk’ed? I don’t see cameras. Maybe I’m dreaming, that’s it! I’m dreaming. Come on Taryn, WAKE UP! I was laughing so hard I was crying. Dom and Malachi were looking at me like they were about to call the looney bin to come get me. Maybe I had lost my mind. That was a good explanation for this s**t show I found myself in currently. “Taryn, are you ok?” Dom asked looking at me concerned. I managed to compose myself. “I’m fine I think, it’s just, well, it definitely wasn’t what I had expected I was going to hear. Never mind,” I said shifting so that I was staring directly at my brother, “I have questions. “What if you’re wrong? This could be Matti’s baby.” My brother ran a had through his hair ruffling it. He was clearly frustrated. “I’m not wrong, the Advisor said there was a new celestial being born in our blood line that would be born an Enchantress. An Enchantress can only be a female. The Advisor is NEVER wrong, it’s his job to keep track of celestials. He’s a Seeker. It’s part of his powers. So, it doesn’t matter who the father is, she is what she is regardless.” I took in a deep breath. “Mom and dad?” He leaned forward resting his elbows on his knees, “They’re witches as well. Matti is a Warlock just like Dom. Can we answer the rest of your questions at home or at least on the way?” he said standing up. “You two need to pack a bag. We got a lot of work to do and we need to get started now. We need to get going. Matti’s meeting us there.” “Matti?” It came out as more of a statement than a question. They gave each other a quick look and a silent nod and Dom spoke up, “I don’t like it anymore than you do and I was against it at first but I won’t take any chances with your life or hers. We need all the help we can get right now. We don’t know what sort of creatures are going to come after either of you.” I nodded my head in understanding as I went to the bedroom to pack. Realization had sunken in and I was literally in shock functioning in auto pilot mode as I packed. I was a Witch, in love with a Warlock, carrying an Enchantress, all kinds of creatures wanted my daughter for her powers, we were both in danger, and I get to be trapped with Matti for god only knows how long while he entices me into an illicit affair……… What kind of s**t hand was this I was being dealt? We pulled up outside my parents house. Matti’s car was already parked outside on the street in front of us. He was still sitting in his car and he had a passenger. “We'll get the bags. Go ahead and head inside,” Dom said turning to me. His dark eyes blazing into mine. He just stared at me hungrily. I knew that look and he was definitely not getting any in the backseat of my brother's car. I broke the gaze and slid out of the car as everyone else started to shuffle out of their cars. I closed the door behind me and turned to catch Matti's blue eyes staring at me intensely. He was watching every move I made already. Dear lord. I made my way into the house. Mom and dad were in the kitchen cooking. At the sight of me, they stopped and both came to scoop me into a big hug. As they both pulled away, mom began speaking, “We don’t have a lot of time. I will explain everything once we’re safe in Acadia. Dinner is almost done. We'll eat quickly and be on our way once the last of our guests arrive.” She turned back to helping my father cook after giving my stomache a small rub. Our house guests were carrying in luggage. I turned and grabbed Malachi by the collar of his shirt and gave him a small tug to follow me. I pulled him into the living room and turned on him seeking answers, “Where is Acadia? Who else are we waiting on? Who is Matti's moused face female friend and why is she here?” It came out with a more vile tone than I intended on. “I have a lot to do right now. I'll answer all your questions when were safe at Acadia.” I could feel my anger rising. I caught sight of myself in the mirror in the wall behind my brother. My blues eyes danced with fire. My head felt on fire. I turned my hard gaze back on my brother who was stating at me with a look on his face, one I’d never seen before, he was afraid. I don’t know what he had seen that had scared him so much. What was there to be afraid of? I was absolutely no threat to Malachi. We both knew that. “You owe it to me Malachi.” Just as I finished that sentence mom started yelling that dinner was ready. The dining room wasn’t nearly big enough for all of us. Some of us ate there and the rest piled into the kitchen. As we were finishing cleaning up dinner a slam of car doors rang in the distance of the driveway. The door bell rang and I heard a familiar voice coming from behind the front door.
