Chapter 5

When we reached Matti’s apartment, he kicked his shoes off and threw his keys on the standby the door, so I did the same. “What movie do you want to see?” “What genre?” He thought for a minute and said, “horror.” “Legion,” I replied. “Legion it is.” He grabbed the remote and within minutes Legion began to play on the screen. “Popcorn?” “Yes, please!” I said with a smile on my face. He kissed my forehead and told me to have a seat. I curled up on the couch opposite the television and began watching the movie. He dimmed the lights and kicked on the surround sound. The familiar sound of the popcorn on the stove popped softly in the kitchen. He was on the couch beside me with popcorn in hand before the previews were over. We curled up together and watched a familiar diner scene play out in front of us. Close to the end of the movie we were interrupted by a banging on the door. The door burst open, Malachi and Dom came rushing through carrying a guy who was bleeding. I wanted to scream. I sat quietly while everyone around me was screaming. From what I could gather the man had been wounded in a knife fight at a club. I stopped listening. I didn’t want to know. Malachi turned around to see me sitting on the couch. “Christ, I figured you’d be gone by now. Damn it! Dom take her home! Now!” “No! I’ll hail a taxi. That won’t be necessary.” “You're not taking a damn taxi. Dom take her home.” “Malachi stop. I will find my own way home.” He could see I wasn’t backing down and he let it go. “Fine!” I walked over and kissed Matti gently on the lips. He wasn’t letting me off that easily. He deepened the kiss, tilting me backward slightly tangling his fingers in my hair. He put me back in place and released me to kiss the top of my forehead. “I’m sorry love. I’ll call you later after I take care of this mess. Grab my keys and take my car.” I turned on my heel and headed for the standby the door for his keys catching the furious look in Dom’s eyes as I walked by. I quickly grabbed the keys and made my way to his car. I headed back to the dorm. It was only ten. Viv was in our room getting ready to go out. She looked up as I walked in and was surprised. “I thought you weren’t coming back tonight.” “Leave it to Dom and Malachi to ruin my night so here I am.” “Want to catch this party with me tonight?” “Sure. Let me get ready.” I threw on a little black strapless dress and a black pair of heels to match. I quickly did my hair and make-up and grabbed my black and red clutch. We were out the door and hailing a cab across town. We pulled up to a big white house in a nice neighborhood. There were people everywhere. We walked through the main door and I followed Viv to the kitchen while she greeted people along the way. We grabbed drinks and then headed towards the back of the house. We exited through open French doors out on to a vast patio that surrounded a lit-up pool. There were tiki torches everywhere and music playing loudly. Most people were chattering amongst themselves. That’s when I realized I had lost Viv. That’s when I spotted him. He was only feet from me, staring at me, smirking coyly at me. Kieran headed in my direction. “Where’s your bodyguard princess?” “I don’t need a bodyguard. I can take care of myself.” I turned to walk away, and he caught my elbow turning me back to face him. “I think we got off on the wrong foot princess. I’m sorry if I offended you.” I couldn’t tell if he was being serious or sarcastic. That’s when he started laughing. I could feel my face turning red. I turned to walk away but he started following. I made my way to the kitchen. Kieran came charging up behind me. “Let me at least get you a drink?” “No Thanks.” “Oh, come on! Just one?” “Fine. One. Then you leave me alone.” He handed me a red solo cup. I took it and walked away. “Hey, come back.” “That was the deal. I took your drink and now you leave me alone.” I yelled through the crowd. My cell phone started to ring so I slipped out front to answer it. It was Matti. “Hello?” “Hey, I finished up with your brother. The night is still early. Want to finish our movie?” “Sure. I’ll grab a cab back to the dorms and bring your car back.” “Cab?!? No cab. Where are you? I’ll have you picked up.” “I’m at a huge party in Brentwood.” “Ok stay out front. Someone will be there to get you.” I waited about fifteen minutes after we hung up. A familiar street bike pulled up in front of me. Great. Dom. f**k my life. He turned the bike off and took off his helmet. He smiled weakly at me. “Matti asked me to pick you up and drop you off at the dorm. Get on.” He handed me a helmet and twenty minutes later we were pulling up in front of my dorm. He turned off the bike once again and took his helmet off. He got off the bike and helped me off. I handed him my helmet back and thanked him. I started to walk away, and he hesitated to get back on the bike. Just when I thought I was going to avoid a confrontation he started to speak. “I’m sorry. It’s complicated. For what it’s worth, the feelings are real. I do care about you. Since I’ve met you, I feel this pull towards you. Since that kiss I can’t get you out of my head. It kills me to watch him touch you.” I turned to face him. “Stop! Just Stop!” I was screaming at him, cutting off his words, I didn’t want to hear anymore. “I felt it too. Now it’s gone. I can’t even bear to look at you right now.” The tears started forming. Great. Now I’m crying. “You made me a conquest and you achieved what you needed to and walked away. Now I’m walking away. Please just leave me alone.” With that I turned and walked away leaving him standing there speechless. I went in and packed a bag and sent Viv a text. I didn’t bother changing. I just headed straight out the door to the car. It took me ten minutes to get Matti’s. I carried my bag in and Matti took it from me and dropped it on the floor. It was nearly one in the morning. Matti picked me up and carried me to the bar and sat me on top of it. He kissed me lightly on the lips. He went to pull away and I wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him back to me. I wrapped my fingers in his blonde hair and began kissing him fiercely. He pulled my hips into his and I wrapped my legs around his waist. He began to grind into me. Suddenly he stopped and pulled back. He slid his hands up my thighs and pushed my dress up to my hips. He picked up my left leg and ran his hand down it is pulling off my shoe when he reached my foot. He then repeated that on the right side. He moved back in between my thighs pushing them open with his hands. He kissed me pushing me backwards on the bar. He trailed kisses to my stomach and then grabbed my hips and pulled me down almost to the end of the bar. He dropped to his knees and began kissing the inside of my thighs. His tongue began to caress the inside of my c**t; sucking and stroking in rhythmic bliss. I felt the familiar buildup of pleasure. The release felt like fireworks as I fisted his hair and wrapped my legs around him bucking and grinding with the rhythm of his tongue. He stood up and flipped me over so that my stomach rested on the counter and my feet rested on the floor. He slid into me gently. I thrusted back against him while he playfully tugged on my hair. He gave a deep thrust and let out a moan. Oh, what this man does to me! I went to soak in the giant jacuzzi bath in the master bathroom. Matti was nice enough to run it for me. I dropped my bag on the floor in his room and headed for the bathroom. I opened the door to find candles lit and bubbles in the bath. Luther Vandross was playing softly through the stereo and he left a glass of white wine on the black marble countertop for me. I crawled in the bath slowly and sipped my wine. I had a million things running through my mind. Why can’t Dom just let me be? Every time I start to feel happy, he must come in and make things confusing again. I feel so connected to him. There is something for both of us. He can’t act on it though and I won’t be anyone’s second choice. Is any of this fair to Matti or Lila though? I felt a headache coming on. Good thing Matti’s stereo system was voice activated. “Stereo, change to Ashanti.” In moments Ashanti was playing and I started to sing to myself. I lost myself in the music and was able to just relax. Finally, I dried off and pulled on a pair of spanks and a tank top. Matti was leaning against the bar in the kitchen watching ESPN when I came downstairs. I followed his line of sight to the television to see a familiar face sitting on the couch. Damn It! Dom! Why?!? I had finally cleared my thoughts and BAM! there he is again. I walked over to Matti and he took me into his arms. Even though I wasn’t facing Dom; I knew he was staring at me. I could feel his eyes burning into my back and I knew he was glaring at me. He could probably see half my ass cheeks. Damn. I wasn’t expecting any company. Damn. I looked up at Matti. “I’m pretty tired from our little excursion earlier. I think I'm going to head to bed?” He kissed my forehead and said, “Ok babe. I’ll be up shortly.” Then he lifted my chin and kissed me, gently slipping his tongue quickly between my parted lips. He released me and smacked my ass as I walked away. Was he rubbing this in Dom’s face? Did he know? That’s just silly. He couldn’t possibly know. I climbed the stairs and tucked myself between his silk sheets and drifted off to sleep. I awoke in the middle of the night and looked at my phone. It was nearly four in the morning and Matti wasn’t in bed. I climbed out of bed on a mission to find Matti. I crept quietly down the stairs. He was in the library off the living room talking to someone on the phone. He sounded angry. “Stop calling me!” *Pause* “I don’t care. WE ARE NOT TOGETHER!” *Pause* “It’s not serious. It never could be. That was the plan all along. Remember? No strings.” *Pause* “I’ll never be able to explain this. She’ll never understand.” I stopped listening. My stomach was turning. I wish I hadn’t woken up. I didn’t want to be here right now. I snuck back up the stairs. I could still hear him yelling downstairs. I put all my stuff back in my bag and pulled on a pair of jeans and a jacket. I crept back down the stairs. Yep, he was still yelling. I snuck out to the elevator and was gone. I stepped out into the crisp September air. I walked about six blocks and stopped to hail a cab. All I wanted was to be back in my bed. Tears stung my eyes. I paid my fare and ran to my room. As I came Viv was laying in her bed on her phone. “I’ll have to call you back,” she said hanging up the phone. “What happened?” she asked looking concerned. I told her everything. I mean everything. Dom. Matti. Every little torrid detail up to tonight's events. Now I was balling. My phone kept ringing. It was Matti. He has finally realized that I'm gone. I just wanted to go to sleep. I curled up in bed and turned my phone off. I got up early. I wanted to run. I needed to be able to just get lost for a while. Running was an outlet for me. I got back around nine. Viv was coming out of the bathroom. “Lover boy was here looking for you.” “Great.” “I told him to f**k off.” “Good. I don’t want any part of anything he’s got going on. It’s just too much for me, all the drama. I think I just want to focus on myself right now and having fun and living my life.” “Sounds like a good plan.” “I’m going back to sleep.” “Night. I have class. Want to grab a coffee later?” “Sure. Get ahold of me when you're free.” She was out the door and I was in my bed back asleep within no time.
