Chapter 8

I was furious when we first arrived at the Tree Spore Pack, I couldn't believe how few guards they had for having visiting packs. I became suspicious when one of the guards was talking about an auction. Ashley and Janice had said nothing about an auction and I knew there was a reason they didn't tell us about it. I could tell Nate was also suspicious of this, there's only a few reasons that packs would have auctions but wouldn't invite everyone, and none of them were good. As we made it towards the pack house I could tell that the Beta and Gamma of the pack were trying to prevent us from looking around. This pissed me and Storm off, and I could Nate was also getting pissed.

When they finally let us past, and we made our way around the pack house I was absolutely shocked at what I saw. A small girl strung from a post on a stage, a small group of Alpha's, watching as Ashley and Janice stood on the stage conducting some sort of auction. When Janice whipped the girl, Nate and I let out ferocious growls, but Ashley was too stupid to stop, as she whipped the girl again and again. Nate, Alex, Meredith and I raced towards the stage our warriors close behind, circling the group not allowing anyone to escape.

When Nate and I reached the girl the most enticing scent hit my nose, it was as delicious as Nates scent and the two of us looked at each other knowing we had finally found our other mate. We raced to our mate and gently took her down from the pole, I could see she had cuts, upon cuts, bruises on top of bruises, she was so light. Nate and I screamed for our doctor that we had brought, this was worse than anything we could imagine. Nate and I gently picked up our mate, careful of her injuries and we carried her towards the pack hospital.

We needed to get our girl stable before we could transport her home. By the time we had made it to the hospital and our doctor took over, our allies and other Council members had arrived. Ashley, Janice, and the Alpha's who had been apart of the auction had been taken to the dungeon, the warriors and other pack members had all been sequestered and were under the care of the warriors we had all brought with us. Some of the Council members who had packs close by had called for extra support until we were able to figure out who was complicit and who wasn't. We showed everyone the video we had taken from the moment we arrived and our warrior who had filmed everything was incredible and had gotten each and every person who was at the auction on camera, while they were still sitting, so there would be no question about whether or not they were planning on participating.

Our pack doctor was working on getting our girl stable, and Nate and I knew we couldn't be in the room no matter how much we wanted to be. We couldn't risk infection and we both knew we'd be useless and our wolves would be hard to control if they saw the trauma to the girl. We hated that we had to keep calling our mate "the girl" and we didn't know her name, so we decided that while Doctor Mark worked on her, we'd go see what kind of answers we could get. The sooner we cleaned up the mess at Tree Spore, the faster we would be able to get our girl home and take care of her. Neither Nate nor I wanted our girl to have to be here any longer than necessary, but we needed some answers.

"I'll stay here, and wait for Doctor Marks' updates. At least if she wakes up, I'll be here until you can both get back" Meredith told us and both Nate and I appreciated her. We still had no idea the extent of the damage done, so even though we were mates there was a chance that she would be too scared to see us. We had waited this long for our girl, we were willing to wait as long as it would take to make her comfortable with us. That didn't prevent us from wanting to seek revenge on everyone at Tree Spore. Nate, Alex and I made our way into the pack house to the Janice and Ashley's office. We met with some of the Council members, everyone was in absolute disgust by what we had found, and everyone wanted to avenge the poor girl.

"We talked with some of the pack members, and it seems like besides Ashley and Janice, and some of the warriors, no one was even aware that there was a girl in the pack." One of the Alpha's said to us, Scott was one of the best interrogators, on the council. He was known for being able to get almost anyone to talk, with little to no effort. It helped that he had a bit of vampire blood that ran through his veins, thanks to his mother. He had the gift of persuasion and was able compel answers without anyone realizing what was happening. Alpha Scott was like Nate and I and only used his gifts when necessary, like in situations like this.

Scott had made sure that he spoke with the members who weren't in the dungeon, because we had enough evidence on those who were down there. It was helpful to know that the pack didn't seem to be aware of the girl, at least we wouldn't have to punish the whole pack. Those members would be offered sanctuary in another pack when Tree Spore was disband. Unfortunately we couldn't just kill everyone in the dungeons, they would have to face a trial. This was a large part of having the Council, it could be determined that death was the best option anyways, but they still had to be given a fair trial. Regardless of the evidence on them.

"Alpha's you're needed." Doctor Mark linked Nate and I and we both stood. Scott and a few other Alpha's nodded at us as we left, we knew they had this under control. They had all heard our admission that the girl was our mate and they didn't want to prevent us from seeing her.

We quickly made our way to the hospital, nervous about what we'd hear. We had just found our mate, we couldn't lose her.

"Doc. How is she?" I asked, as soon as I saw Doctor Mark exit the room to come and meet us.

"She's resting, she's a fighter, that's for sure. She's got infection in her wounds, she's been pumped full of wolfsbane and silver. She's been starved, and beaten over and over again. She's been down there a while, she's so pale, she clearly hasn't seen the sun in a long time. She hasn't had a bath or shower in that time, I removed her blindfold, and it was fused to her head, it was so tight it's caused sores on her face and head and her hair was matted into it. What the hell did these bastards do to her?" Doctor Mark told us, he had tears in his eyes and the way Nate was holding my hand I knew he too was crying, like myself. Meredith was sobbing and Alex was doing his best to comfort her, but he too was crying. Scott had come to join us in the hospital and he had tears in his eyes, but more than that, he had rage.
