Aiden and I took our seats behind our desk, letting the two brothers who had requested an audience sit across from us. Our beta Alex, sat on a chair near the desk, our two gammas Jack and Carter, stood by the door. Alex's mate Meredith, who was technically our beta female, though she proffered to leave the beta job to Alex, was helping to watch our borders while were in the meeting. We were technologically advanced and had some of the best warriors, but ensuring our borders were protected was a full time job. Meredith and Carters mate Samantha loved working in the control room and was extremely tech savvy, having set up the majority of the camera's that protected our pack themselves. They had hidden a lot of them so no one knew where they were, which was an asset in keeping us protected.
I looked at the brothers, who were sitting straight and showed no fear being in front of Aiden and I. This was a good sign, most people who had nefarious intentions were shifty and wouldn't make eye contact.
"Alpha's, my name is Boston Spears, this is my brother Spencer Spears. We are originally from the Still Water pack, but about eight months ago we left in hopes of finding our mate. We joined the Tree Spore pack, which is currently under the rule of Alpha Janice Bales and her daughter future Alpha Ashley Bales, since the death of their Alpha Wilfred Bales. We thought our mate might be there, or at the very least with all the parties the pack throws, they might show up. The pack was weird, they only left a few guards down into the dungeon which we thought was a bit weird, our original pack and ally packs often had new warriors in the dungeon because it was an easy place to guard until they could be tested on their strength. We were automatically put on patrol once they found out we were warriors at our old pack. There was no test to see our skills, but I don't think it mattered Ashley, I mean Alpha Ashley wasn't really interested in our skills... She was more interested in hitting on us and any other warriors who would give her the time of day." Boston paused.
"He's telling the truth so far" Aiden linked me. "From what I've heard of Ashley and Janice is they aren't the best leaders, they run through a lot of cash and are more interesting in spreading their legs, but none of that's a crime if it's consensual."
"Agreed. I wonder where this is going," I linked back, I didn't use my gift to go through memories unless I needed to, usually when someone was blatantly lying and we needed to know right away. I nodded my head at Boston and he continued his story.
"A couple nights ago we were finally put on dungeon duty. At first we thought it was a bit of a punishment for turning Alpha Ashley down, but we were also ok with having to go down there, because we figured it would give us a break from her relentless s****l comments. We're both saving ourselves for our mate." Both men blushed a bit at that, like it was something shameful.
"While we were down there, we had to feed the prisoners, or well in this case prisoner." Spencer picked up the story from his brother. "There was only one down there, a girl, it was hard to tell her age, but she was badly beaten, and had on a blindfold. She didn't speak to us, but she looked like she had been down there for a long time. She wasn't allowed her food on a tray and she was given extremely small portions, and the smallest cup of water. We couldn't figure out why they'd keep someone down there if they weren't going to kill her. We were going to look at her records when Ashley came down. She chained the girl up in the torture chamber, leaving the blindfold on. She injected her with wolfsbane and silver, and then proceeded to whip the girl. She told us we could take a turn after she was done, but she needed to release some stress. After she was done whipping her, she punched her in the face, before she directed us to take her down and put her back in her cell, no medical attention. I asked what the girl had done to deserve the abuse and Ashley didn't care enough to try and hide it. She said it was some girl her mom had brought to the pack fifteen years ago, and was supposed to be protected. But her mother bought her instead." Spencer had tears pouring down his face when he finished the story, his brother had his fists balled and I could tell he was trying to hold his temper. My wolf Shadow, was growling in my mind and I knew Aiden was struggling with Storm. Our beta and gammas were sitting in shock at the story we heard.
"We knew as soon as we saw her something wasn't right and we both had this instant pull to help her. We didn't want to leave her in that cell, but it was the only way we knew we could potentially save her." Boston said, "we told Alpha Janice and Alpha Ashley that we didn't find out mate so we were moving on. They knew we weren't there for a long time. We didn't want them to become suspicious and something worse happen to the girl. As soon as we crossed the border we contacted the council. I have no idea how many other members of the pack are aware of this girl, but I don't think it's many. Like I said, it took a long time for us to even be sent down there, but how nonchalant Ashley was about the abuse, it wouldn't be surprising if more people knew."
Aiden and I both asked a few more questions of the two men and I asked permission to watch their memories. We believed their story, but we needed to see it for ourselves so that we could report back to the council. Cases like this were the worst because we needed to see who was involved. The memories from Boston and Spencer were horrifying to watch, the girl looked young and you could see injury over injury, it was amazing that she was even alive, though at this stage she may have already passed away. We knew Ashley was involved in her abuse but we had to find out what Alpha Janice knew as well.
We all sat in silence for a few minutes after watching the memories, we knew we had to protect the girl, but it was going to be difficult if she was in the prison. Janice had hidden her away for so long, she was bound to have made up a story justifying the abuse, and if she found out us or the Council were on to her, it would be easy to get rid of the girl. Especially if very few people in the pack knew of her existence. The only blessing was that Ashley wasn't the smartest and a bit of a wild card.
After processing we all began to think of ways to help the girl. We knew that Boston and Spencer couldn't go back without raising to much suspicion and because they were trustworthy we offered them a place in our pack. They were happy to agree and Aiden and I were thrilled when we found our that they were mated to our Gamma Jack. Jack hadn't wanted to say anything until he saw how this played out with the brothers, and the brothers were smart enough to understand that. We were pleased to bring such strong men into our ranks.
