~Aiden
Two days after we had arrived at the Tree Spore pack, our doctor told us that our mate, who's name we learned from Janice was Reagan, was stable enough to transport. She was still out, but with the amount of abuse that she had endured, we knew that it would be a while before she woke up. She needed to heal, her body and her mind, plus the amount of wolfsbane and silver in her system was enough to take down three or four full grown adult wolves. The doctor had no idea how she managed to survive, but both Nate and I didn't care, we were just happy that she was still alive.
We had our gammas send us one of our pack helicopters to pick up our mate and transport her back to our pack. We sent Meredith back without mate, despite how much it killed us to be away from her. The hospital at Tree Spore was mediocre compared to our pack, it was clear that Janice and Ashley cared more about spending money on themselves than on the packs. This was also proven true by some of the members who we spoke too. They said when Alpha Wilfred was still alive, he took care of the pack, but after he passed Ashley and Janice stopped caring so much, unless it affected them. The reason the members didn't leave was out of loyalty to the former Alpha, as well as the Beta and Gamma who did their best for the pack. We were still trying to understand how much the Gamma and Beta knew about the abuse of the girl, but it was difficult to find out, they claimed that they had only seen the girl the day of the auction and they were commanded to keep everyone away of where the auction was. I wasn't able to detect lies, and Scott compelled them to tell the truth and their story hadn't changed, but it was odd that the Beta and Gamma wouldn't know what was going on in the pack or in the dungeons. Without our mate waking up to ask questions, we wouldn't know.
We gathered up all of the prisoners to transport back to our pack until a hearing could commence, and the members who didn't know about the abuse were taken to various council packs until we could find them packs to live at. We would have no issues with any of them coming to our pack, but we wanted Reagan to make the decision. She was the one who needed to feel safe, at all times. Regardless if she was our mate or not, the horrors she went through weren't acceptable.
We managed to travel back to the Golden Moon pack in just under three days. With having prisoners we had to stop a little more frequently, but thankfully there were enough allied packs along the way that we could stop over night. Both Nate and I were thrilled when we arrived back home and we could finally see our girl again. Doctor Mark had been giving us updates along our travels, and she was still in a coma, but seemed to be healing, albeit it slowly. As soon as we had the prisoners locked up in the dungeons, Nate and I made our way to the hospital. Mark had been able to do more tests on the Reagan and we had found out the full extent of her injuries. She had multiple broken ribs, both ankles and her left femur were broken, her right wrist and left humorous were broken, she had multiple facial fractures and a severe concussion. Those were just her recent injuries, she also showed signs of previous breaks in every bone in her body, cuts and bruises in various stages of healing, it truly was a miracle that she had survived. Doctor Mark had casted what he could and kept her limbs elevated the best he could with still keeping her healthy. He figured once some of the poison cleared out of her system her bones would heal faster, they were currently healing at a decent pace, not as slow as a human, but not nearly as fast as a wolf. Even if her wolf had died, she'd still have some of the healing abilities that wolves usually provided.
Nate and I were furious when we found out how bad Reagan truly was, but we were happy we had been able to find her and could now protect her. Janice couldn't remember the her last name, or what pack she came from, or at least she couldn't be compelled to tell us. We knew she was lying but she had clearly trained herself not to speak and had learned to beat a compel. It was extremely interesting as no one on the council had heard of this before, so she clearly had someone working with her. Likely another vampire, who was of pure blood, or a witch. Scott was looking into the situation for us, he had truly been a goddess send and we were happy to have him on our side.
Nate and I were sitting beside Reagan's bed, speaking quietly to her, letting her know she was safe, we wanted to be able to touch her but we weren't sure how she would react if she woke up. She had been through so much and Nate and I would never want to be the cause of any of her pain. It had been five days and we wanted nothing more than for our beautiful mate to wake up, it was difficult to wait, but we knew we needed to be patient. Reagan's health was the most important thing, and we could wait.
I sighed in exhaustion, this had been the longest five days and neither Nate or I had gotten much sleep dealing with everything. We had brought a lot of pack work back to the hospital with us and Alex, Meredith and our Gammas had really stepped up for us. We had decided to check with Reagan when she woke up but if she was ok with it we'd allow them to become Gammas also, especially since they were mates with Jack.
Nate and I were chatting softly when I glanced down at Reagan and saw her eyes fluttering, at first I thought it was just some involuntary movement that Doctor Mark had told us could happen with patients in coma's, but then she opened her eyes fully. She blinked a few times, before screwing her eyes shut. Instantly I knew the light was bothering her and I jumped up to turn them off.
"Hey sweetheart. The lights are out, you can open your eyes again." Nate told her softly, and she slowly opened them. We were aware of how long the blindfold had been on, so it was likely she hadn't seen light in years and the doctor had told us that she would be extremely sensitive. We let her eyes adjust to the darkness, and even thought I yearned to see the color I knew the darkness is what she needed most.
I grabbed her a cup of water with a straw, as Nate moved the bed so she was sitting up a bit, being careful of her wounds. I offered her the straw and she took small sips of water. I patiently held the cup until she felt she had had enough, Mark had told us what to do if she woke up, and Nate and I had prepared. Mark knew he needed to check her out, but we didn't want to overwhelm her with too many people, especially since she didn't know anyone.
"Hello, mates." She whispered in a soft voice and I could feel Nates happiness through our bond and I was equally as ecstatic that she had know who we were.
