Chapter 7

We arrived at the Tree Spore Pack well ahead of schedule. Aiden had been driving excessively fast to get us here. Our wolves were anxious about something and I knew whatever it was, it wasn't good. The first thing I noticed when we arrived was the lack of guards at the entrance. Most packs doubled patrols whenever there were going to be a ton of visitors for safety reasons, but here there were so few. We pulled through the gates and were finally stopped by a warrior who was walking towards the gate, clearly sent because he had been alerted we had arrived.

"Hello, Alpha's. If you're here for the auction, it's just started, but you can still make it." He said chuckling, pointing us in the general direction of the pack house.

"Auction?" I linked Aiden and our beta and his mate.

"I don't like this." Aiden linked back, with Alex and Meredith agreeing. We quickly linked our warriors who were behind us as we parked our SUV. We exited the vehicle and I could smell a sweet scent, mixed with the metallic scent of blood. My wolf Shadow started getting very anxious and wanted me to follow the scent, I could see Aiden was fighting Storm, and knew his wolf wanted him to do the same. As we started to walk towards the scent we were stopped by the beta and gamma of the pack.

"Hello gentlemen. You're here early." The beta Fred greeted us, he seemed to be a bit nervous about our early arrival, which was odd. We hadn't announced to the pack we were coming early, but there was supposed to be a party, it was common for people to show up early.

"I'm smelling a lot of blood." I said to beta Fred and I could see him glance towards the gamma George. "Is everything ok?"

"Yes... Yes... There was a rogue who crossed over earlier, that's what you're smelling." The gamma said trying to make it seem like everything was ok.

"He's lying." Aiden linked me and I gave him a short nod. There was no smell of rogues, which had a distinct garbage scent. That and if a rogue really had crossed over, why wouldn't there be more warriors at the border protecting the pack and the visitors.

I started moving towards the smell of blood again, with Aiden close beside me, Alex and Meredith were slightly behind us and I could see them checking everything out. Fred stepped in front of me, acting like he wanted to stop me from moving toward the smell.

"Is there a problem?" I asked the beta, raising my eyebrow, indicating I knew he was trying to stop me from going forward.

"Nnnoo. We just thought you might be tired and we should take you to your rooms so you can rest and clean up before the party." He stuttered quickly, before clearing his throat and speaking clearly.

"We'd like to walk around." I said letting a bit of my Alpha aura out. Both the beta and gamma gulped nervously, their eyes shifting around.

"Of course. I'll have an Omega show you to your room after." The gamma said, putting his hand on the beta and letting us pass.

"Keep an eye on these two." I linked a couple of the warriors we had brought with us, instantly receiving a "yes Alpha" back. We normally weren't very formal with our pack, but in situations like this, we were very formal.

Aiden and I started walking towards the smell of blood again and as we rounded the back of the pack house what I saw made my blood run cold. In the distance, there was a small gathering of Alpha's surrounding what looked like the ceremonial stage. On the stage was a pole that was and attached to the pole was a girl strung up.

"Welcome to the auction. The highest bidder will get to take this prize home with them. But before we get to the bidding, let us show you what this little prize can do!" Janice spoke, while she picked up a whip, cracking it down the back of the girl, that was clearly already injured. The girl didn't scream, or make a sound, she had a blindfold covering her eyes, but her body jerked with the c***k of the whip. Janice cracked the whip down the back of the girl again and both Aiden and I let out growls at the same time.

We both started running towards the stage, barely in control of our wolves, Alex, Meredith and the majority of our warriors close behind us. One of our warriors had a video camera and had been secretly filming since the moment we stepped on the pack, insurance so Janice and Ashley couldn't claim ignorance. As we were getting closer, Ashley grabbed a spiked whip and cracked it down the back of the girl, like she was ignorant to the fact that we were there, she pulled her arm back and cracked the whip again,

Shadow let out the loudest growl I had ever heard him make and it was only then that Ashley seemed to realize that she had been caught. I saw the Alpha's from the crowd jump up and start to disperse, but our warriors were faster and surrounded the group.

"I've got Janice." Alex said taking off towards the lady who had shifted and was trying to run, while Meredith told us she was going for Ashley. Clearly the women hadn't trained much because their wolves were slow and it didn't take long for our beta couple to take them down. It was pretty pathetic seeing as how they were supposedly Alpha's. Aiden and I ran to the stage to go help the girl, the smell of blood was strong, but underneath was a sweet smell, I glanced at Aiden and at the same time our wolves linked each other.

"MATE!" Aiden and I moved faster, we had finally found her, and we might lose her. Aiden and I made quick work of gently bringing our sweet mate down from the device that was holding her up. One of our pack doctors we had brought with us, ran over to us so he could start working on the woman.

"We need to move her." He said, as he started trying to treat her.

"Where is the hospital?" I growled at one of the guards who was still on the stage being restrained by one of the warriors. He nodded his head in the direction of a building near the pack house. Aiden and I looked at each other and we carefully picked our mate up together, being careful of the injuries on her back and together we carried her to the hospital. We had just met her, we couldn't lose her yet.
