We contacted the Council to them them know what we had found out from the brothers to say they were outraged was an understatement. We all agreed that we needed to find a way to get the girl to safety without Janice finding out and something bad happening to the girl. We knew once we got the girl, we'd have to find out who was responsible for selling her to such a vile woman and make sure the girl got the justice she deserved.
From the memories it was hard to tell the age of the girl. Especially with how malnourished and beaten she was. We knew that she likely wouldn't have a wolf because of the amount of wolfsbane and silver that she was injected with, especially since it was a regular occurrence that she was injected. Any amount would suppress or kill a wolf before they had a chance to emerge. The fact that the girl was forced to wear a blindfold was also disgusting. We weren't sure if that was a guilt thing, or something else, but it didn't matter.
As we were thinking of ways to get to Tree Spore without raising suspicion, fate handed us the perfect opportunity. One of pack members, an Omega who acted as Nate and my secretary linked us to tell us that Ashley and Janice had invited us to the twenty-fourth birthday of Ashley at the pack, and it would be held on the weekend, which was five days away. I was a bit concerned about waiting five days to go and get the girl, but there wasn't much we could do about it to push the timeline ahead. We knew that Ashley was hoping to find her mate in an Alpha, hence inviting packs to her birthday.
We worked out the details of our travel to the pack, Alex and Meredith, along with some of our warriors would be traveling with us. We had decided to leave our Gamma's at home with my parents to run the pack. We had decided to take a mix of male and female warriors with us, but we made sure they were all mated. We wanted to make sure that when we got the girl, she would be comfortable, as we didn't know if the trauma she suffered included s****l abuse.
The five days leading up to the date of the party were some of the longest days. Nate, myself and our wolves were all worried about the girl and wanted nothing more than to go and get her. We wanted her safe, even though we had never met her. Finally the day before the party arrived and we left for the Tree Spore pack. The pack was almost twelve hours away so we left the day before so we could ensure we had enough time to travel there. We planned on staying at a hotel for the night and would arrive mid afternoon the day of the party. We didn't want to arrive too early, but knew we needed to be there before the actual party started. With what we knew of Ashley and Janice they would have invited a lot of Alpha's and we needed to extract the girl before too many arrived.
No one but us and our trusted pack members and the Council knew of the girl and we had decided to keep it that way. Less chance of things going wrong. A few of the Council members were trusted allies from other packs who had been invited to the party, their mission was to find out who all knew of this girl, so that justice could be fully served, but for the most part it was up to Nate and I to get this girl to safety.
We arrived at the hotel and rested up for the night, we planned on leaving after breakfast the next morning but Storm was being anxious, and was telling me we needed to leave earlier. I always trusted my wolf, with his gifts I knew what he was telling me was important to listen too. Nate had agreed that Shadow was telling him the same thing and we let our warriors know of the change of plans. No one had issues with it, once they heard of the danger this girl was in they were more than happy to get there sooner.
After a good nights sleep we all made our way to our vehicles, it was still dark out but we had a ways to travel yet, but we'd be able to get there before lunch.
"Am I allowed to punch Ashley in the face?" Meredith asked us, she was sitting in the back seat with Alex, while I drove and Nate sat beside me. All of us chuckled, Meredith was a firecracker and a hell of a warrior. It wasn't the first time she had asked permission to punch someone in the face.
"If she resists us taking the girl, punch away." Nate told her and I could see Meredith beam through the rear view mirror. None of us knew this girl, but we had all felt a strong sense to protect her without meeting her. The memories the twins had shown us of Ashley stating that she didn't even commit a crime made us all feel very protective of the girl. If she had been a prisoner for a crime, then it would have been a little different, if the crime was severe enough.
"Shadow's getting anxious." Nate linked me and I could feel Storms restless energy in my mind.
"Storm too. He hasn't stopped pacing since we left this morning, he keeps telling me to drive faster, which I'm doing." I linked back. It was true, my wolf kept insisting that I hurry up and drive, so I had pushed the SUV to go as fast as I could safely. We would be of no help if I got into a wreck. Storm could be a bit of a hot head, but normally didn't get too worked up about things, unless he was angry, or protecting the pack or someone he loved, so him being anxious like this was unusual. Shadow normally calmed him, but I could feel Nate was struggling with his wolf. Shadow being worked up and anxious was very out of character, he was fierce when he needed to be but usually, he was level headed. Our two wolves complemented each other nicely, Shadow was the calm to the Storm, literally, but today he was part of the storm. I pushed down on the gas hoping to get there a little faster.
