FORBIDDEN TOUCH

Chapter 3 Forbidden Touch Arianna stood by the edge of the forest, the moon casting an ethereal glow over the world. Her breath misted in the cool night air as she stared into the distance, heart racing. She could feel the weight of the moment pressing on her chest, a pressure she couldn’t shake, no matter how hard she tried. The encounter with Ethan earlier that evening had left her with a mix of emotions—confusion, longing, and a fire she wasn’t sure how to contain. Every step she took closer to him had felt like stepping deeper into a forbidden world. She had known from the moment their paths had crossed that this was dangerous, that this was wrong. She was a vampire, and he was a werewolf—a combination that had been the basis of centuries of hostility between their kinds. Yet, despite all the history that sought to divide them, there was something undeniable between them. Her hand trembled as she brushed her fingers through her hair, trying to focus her thoughts, but she couldn’t. The magnetism between them had only grown stronger, an invisible thread pulling them together no matter how much they tried to resist it. She closed her eyes, allowing the sounds of the forest to calm her, but her mind kept returning to Ethan—his eyes, his touch, the way his presence seemed to make the world feel like it was spinning slower, drawing them both into an orbit they couldn’t escape. A rustle in the bushes behind her broke the silence, and Arianna turned, her heart leaping in her chest. Standing there, bathed in the soft light of the moon, was Ethan. His dark hair framed his sharp features, his body tense as if he was uncertain whether to approach or retreat. His eyes locked with hers, and for a moment, the world seemed to vanish, leaving only the two of them. “You came,” Arianna whispered, her voice soft but filled with an emotion that caught her off guard. “I had to,” Ethan replied, his voice low, laden with a mixture of urgency and vulnerability. “I can’t stay away from you, Arianna.” The words hung in the air between them, a confession that neither of them had been brave enough to utter until now. It was the truth they had both been running from, yet here they were, trapped in the web of their desires. Arianna took a tentative step forward, her heart hammering in her chest. The distance between them had never felt so small, and yet it was as if an entire universe separated them—one that had been built on their families' hatred and the rules that bound them. She had been taught her whole life that a vampire and a werewolf could never be anything more than enemies. But in this moment, the world felt different. Ethan closed the gap, his presence overwhelming. He was so close now that she could feel the heat of his body, the rapid rhythm of his pulse. His breath mingled with hers, and Arianna’s mind clouded with the intensity of their proximity. “You’re the one person I never thought I’d want like this,” Arianna admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. “But here we are.” Ethan’s hand reached out, brushing against her cheek. His touch sent a surge of electricity through her, and Arianna’s eyes fluttered shut, savoring the sensation. She was lost in him, in the way his touch made her feel alive in ways that defied all logic. “Arianna, I—” Ethan began, but his words trailed off as he closed the space between them and captured her lips in a kiss. It was a kiss that held everything—desire, fear, longing, and the weight of the world that stood between them. Their lips met in a searing connection, one that neither could have prepared for. Arianna’s heart raced in her chest, her body responding instinctively to the pull of his kiss. She kissed him back, desperate to lose herself in him, to forget the rules, the consequences, and everything else that threatened to tear them apart. For a moment, nothing else existed but the two of them, their hearts beating in sync, their breath mingling in the cold night air. But as the kiss deepened, the reality of their situation began to creep in. They were two beings from opposing worlds, and their union could never be accepted. They were playing with fire, and both knew the risk involved. When they finally pulled away, their breaths came in ragged gasps, and Arianna’s mind raced with the implications of what had just happened. She couldn’t deny the intensity of what she had felt, but she also couldn’t ignore the consequences. “This is wrong,” she whispered, her voice trembling. “We can’t—” “I know,” Ethan interrupted, his voice strained. “I know this is dangerous, but I can’t stop. I can’t let you go.” Arianna closed her eyes, torn between the overwhelming desire to be with him and the fear of what would come next. She had always known that her family’s expectations, her duty to her kind, would shape her life. She had always known that love would come second to loyalty. But with Ethan, everything felt different. “Do you realize what this could cost us?” she asked, her voice barely a whisper. “My family will never accept this. Your pack will never allow it. If anyone finds out…” “I don’t care,” Ethan said, his hands gripping her shoulders gently, his gaze intense. “I can’t live without you, Arianna. If it means facing my pack, facing your family… then I’ll do it. For you.” The words hit her like a tidal wave, and Arianna’s heart ached with the weight of them. She had never felt so torn, so conflicted. Ethan’s love was both a blessing and a curse, a gift she wanted to hold onto but feared could destroy everything. Before she could respond, a low growl echoed from the shadows, cutting through the tension between them like a blade. Arianna’s body stiffened, and Ethan immediately shifted into a defensive stance, his eyes scanning the darkness. From the trees, a figure emerged—tall, imposing, with a presence that radiated authority. It was a member of the werewolf pack, one Arianna recognized from the times she had crossed paths with Ethan before. “You shouldn’t be here,” the werewolf growled, his voice filled with suspicion and warning. “Both of you. The Alpha will not tolerate this betrayal.” Arianna’s heart sank. This was the last thing she needed. The discovery of their bond, their kiss, could lead to disastrous consequences for them both. The pack wouldn’t tolerate a member fraternizing with a vampire, and her family would never allow a betrayal of this magnitude. “We weren’t doing anything wrong,” Ethan said, his voice cold but firm. “I’m not betraying anyone.” “You don’t have a choice anymore, Ethan,” the werewolf sneered. “The pack has its eyes on you. The Alpha will deal with this.” Arianna could feel the weight of the situation bearing down on them. Their love, their connection, was no longer just a dangerous secret—it was now an open threat to both their worlds. And as much as she wanted to stand by Ethan, to fight for them, she knew they were walking a razor’s edge. With a final glance at Ethan, Arianna knew that their love was far from simple—it was a dangerous game, one where every step forward could be their last. And the consequences, whatever they may be, would follow them to the ends of the earth. As the werewolf stepped closer, Arianna’s heart twisted with the uncertainty of what was to come. Their bond had been sealed in a kiss, but the price of that kiss was now looming over them like a storm ready to break. And they were both caught in its path.
