Ellis
It was definitely not a coincidence. I knew she’d come crawling back to me. Everyone does. I knew that even before I harbored the idea of marrying her. She just needed a little push to discover how much she needed me. She had answers, precious little secrets to the questions that plagued even a man of my stature.
It all started, two days ago. I graced the Threshold club with my presence, along with Allen Wells, the closest person i have to a best friend, though I do not like to call him that, I think it’s fuckin’ weird to call him that. According to him, I needed some time to relax. True, but I’d be damned if I admit that openly. I don’t fancy the idea of someone looking after me, hovering like I’m some fragile thing in need of coddling.
I was relaxed, or at least as relaxed as I could be, in my private suite when I got a message from one of my guards. They were bringing up an unconscious girl into my suite, claiming they thought she was a spy. He came into the room carrying her limp body like she weighed nothing, her head lolling slightly against his shoulder. She did look familiar, Black hair… I moved closer, my eyes narrowing as I studied her. Her eyelids fluttered faintly, revealing a glimpse of striking blue eyes that sent a jolt through me.
Why did she look so fuckin’ familiar? I took out my phone and took a photo of her and sent it to one of my men. He would be expected to dig up every piece of information on her, her name, her background, anything that could explain why she seemed so familiar. I looked at her face again. Where had I seen this face before?
I turned away going into the study there. I couldn’t even let myself take a full rest. What the f**k was wrong with me? I tossed the book aside. I watched as they unarmed her. What did she think she was gonna do with that f*****g little knife? She sure did come prepared though.
Who exactly was she? I slid back into my study, a guard lighting a cigarette for me. After a while, one of my guards walked into my study, “Sir, she’s awake” I smirked, about damn time. I got up walking into the room. My eyes scanned her features—fear, confusion. That was a good start.
I watched as she scooted back on the bed, I smirked tossing my cigarette away. That was exactly what I wanted. The fear that came with my presence—That look in people’s eyes when they see me. That was how it’s supposed to be. “Who sent you?” I asked straightforward, leaving no room for beating around the bush.
But the little doll remained silent staring up at me. I sure didn’t have the damn patience for that stare contest. Maybe she was just foolish and couldn’t understand. “…Alright, let me ask this again, why the f**k are you spying on me?” I rephrased, hoping she doesn’t test my patience. And as expected, she outright denied it.
It seemed I wouldn’t get anything out of her this way. I just needed to get her information first before I decide to take any action. Perhaps I could be patient enough. So I did the most likely thing I would, I sent her away. Let her think she’s off my hook.
Later, after she had gone, Allen came over to my suite. He’s 32 years of age. Born around the same time i was. He’s the CEO of AetherTech industries. He’s also a successful billionaire. He’s f*****g jovial, even when I don’t need him to. He sat on the fluffy sofa smiling. His brown hair, noticeably longer than usual styled in a wolf’s cut that framed his face with a wild untamed edge. This is his usual look when he’s out of work and out of his suit.
His eyes, a deep shade of brown too, just like his hair, gleamed with a mischievous glint as he tilted his head slightly. He reached over with a casual yet bold gesture, grabbing the wine glass from my hand and gulping down the contents in one swift move. f*****g great.
“Why are you here?” I said folding my arms “…Have you run out of sluts and finally decided to bother me?” He looked at me feigning offense “You know I never run out of them” he smirked, added with a chuckle, his confidence unshakable. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. My phone suddenly lit up with a soft glow, a new text notification breaking the moment. I glanced at the screen, a faint smirk tugging at the corners of my lips. Her information.
