Johnson's POV*
I opened the door to find a woman standing on our porch, her face partially hidden by the shadows. She was dressed in a long coat, and a suitcase stood beside her.
"Can I help you?" I asked, my tone cautious.
The woman stepped forward, and the porch light illuminated her face. I was taken aback - she looked eerily familiar.
"Johnson," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "It's been a long time."
I felt a shiver run down my spine as I stared at the woman. Who was she? And what did she want?
Suddenly, Vee appeared behind me, her eyes wide with shock.
"Johnson, who is it?" she asked, her voice trembling.
The woman's eyes locked onto Vee, and a mix of emotions played across her face.
"It's been 15 years, Vee," the woman said, her voice laced with sadness. "But I see you're still struggling."
Vee's face went white, and she stumbled backward, as if she'd been punched.
"Who is this?" I demanded, feeling a growing sense of unease.
The woman's eyes met mine, and I saw a glimmer of recognition.
"I'm Vee's sister," she said, her voice firm. "And I've come ........
*Vee's POV*
I stumbled backward, my mind reeling as the woman's words hung in the air. My sister. Here. After 15 years.
I hadn't expected to see her again. Hadn't expected her to come back.
Memories flooded my mind, memories of laughter, of fights, of secrets shared and promises broken.
"Rachel," I whispered, my voice barely audible.
Rachel's eyes locked onto mine, and I saw the mix of emotions playing across her face. Guilt, regret, concern.
I felt Johnson's eyes on me, questioning, but I couldn't meet his gaze. I couldn't explain.
Rachel took a step forward, her suitcase beside her. "May I come in?" she asked, her voice hesitant.
I hesitated, unsure of what to do. Part of me wanted to shut the door, to keep her out. But another part of me, a part that still held onto hope, wanted to let her in.
"Let her in," Johnson said, his voice firm, but gentle.
I nodded, stepping aside as Rachel entered our home, our lives.
The past was about to collide with the present, and I wasn't sure if our family would survive.
*Johnson's POV*
I watched as Vee's sister, Rachel, entered our home, her presence like a whirlwind. Vee's reaction had been shock, but there was something else beneath the surface. Something she wasn't telling me.
As I looked at Rachel, I couldn't help but feel a sense of confusion. Vee had never mentioned a sister. Ever.
"Rachel, can I get you a cup of tea or something?" I asked, trying to play host while my mind raced with questions.
Rachel smiled weakly. "Thank you, Johnson. That would be nice."
As I headed to the kitchen, I caught Vee's eye, trying to convey my confusion. She looked away, her shoulders tense.
I knew Vee's family dynamics were complicated, but this was something else. Why hadn't she ever mentioned a sister?
As I poured the tea, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was a lot more to Vee's past than I knew.
*Vee's POV*
I watched Johnson's back as he made tea, feeling a pang of guilt. I knew he'd be shocked when he found out about Rachel. But I wasn't ready to explain. Not yet.
Rachel's return had brought up a lot of emotions, a lot of memories. I wasn't sure if I was ready to face them.
But I knew I had to. For my family, for Johnson, and for myself.
