Nina’s POV
My legs kept moving even though fear screamed at me to stop. The footsteps behind me got louder. Then a hand grabbed my arm. Not too hard, but firm enough to make me freeze. I didn’t look up. I kept my eyes on the ground, heart hammering like crazy.
“Are you here with the drugs?” the guy asked. His voice was low, rough, like he’d smoked too many cigarettes.
I shook my head fast. “No. I’m not.” My voice came out small. I still didn’t meet his eyes. Too scared of what I might see.
He stayed quiet for a second. Then he let go of my arm. “Cool. Be careful out here.”
