Chapter 3- First Encounter

James POV:

I’m very much better than I was yesterday. I slowly stand up from my bed edge where I sat for a while going through my schedule for the day after I came back from my long but refreshing morning jog. I go into the bathroom to take my bath but I just sit there and zone out thinking about when these attacks will stop. I finally jolt back to reality wrap a towel around my waist and walk into my closet. I pick a blue pair of suits and a wine tie to match it, a blue inner shirt, and black and red button shoes to top it off. I quickly dress up and move back into my room. It is 10:50 am already, I put the necessary things into my briefcase and wear my perfumes before heading downstairs for breakfast. I meet Alex on my way downstairs all dressed up. “Good morning, I see you’re looking better than I left you yesterday” he smirks. “Good morning to you too, stalker” I chuckle. “You’ve got just less than ten minutes to eat breakfast, by 11 am you’re meeting with the pack elders, and by 11:30 am we should be on our way to the company for the noon meeting.” He stands in front of me with the kitchen foyer in between us. I lay down my briefcase and phone. “Alex I know, I went through the schedule already,” I say calmly as I begin spreading butter on a slice of bread. “James, you’re having bread for breakfast again? Should I call the workers back?” he asked worried. “Alex I’m fine” I smile. “Okay if you say so. We should get going before the elders become angry like the last time,” he says raising his eyebrows. I drink water and clean my hand, pick up my briefcase and phone then head to the door. I walk to the elder's apartment with Alex and the guard welcomes us. “The elders are having a very important meeting with another pack’s elders, and they will not finish anytime soon. I’ll advise you to come back later,” he says before we enter the apartment. “Oh thank you we will come back in the evening, just let them know we came” Alex responds to him. James and Alex go to the car ready to leave for the company. “I just hope it’s nothing serious because why would they be having a serious conversation with another pack’s elders?” Alex tries to start up a conversation with James as he drives. “I hope so too,” I say, my voice stating I don’t want to have this conversation and I want to have a quiet drive. We sit there in silence as we drive down to the company. I check the time and it’s 11:35 am.

We’re 10 minutes away from the company now. Looking back to when this company was handed over to me, in a state that was nothing to write home about. It was as if I was starting from scratch because I had to find investors and find land that was fertile enough to grow trees for our production and suppliers. Yeah, our company deals with all kinds of woods and wood works and we have investors all over the world.

We arrive at the company at exactly 11:42 am. “Do you want to start the show from the front of the company or from inside?” Alex asks as he grins. “Just go park in the underground parking lot, fool” I smile.

Without a word, we both start walking down to the private elevator. We arrive at the top floor and people are walking, working, and moving from one place to another busy with one thing or the other. We both walk down to the boardroom with people starting to notice my presence and they rush to arrange themselves in order.”I need to fill my stomach Mr CEO, call me when you need me, ciao.”Alex winks before making his way to the cafeteria. At the entrance of the boardroom Miss Smith my secretary calls out to me before I can enter the boardroom. “ Mr Grande, good morning it’s so good to see you in the office today” she smiles seductively. She always tries to get my attention and I don’t find her attractive at all. “Thanks, Miss Smith. Are the investors around?” I asked ignoring her seductive actions. “Yes they are in already,” she says not as hyper as she said in the first sentence. I do a mental chuckling before proceeding to enter the boardroom.

I see three unfamiliar faces which I guess are the investors, Mr Musk, the manager, and Mrs Brahms, the financial secretary. I make my way to the center chair and sit. “Good day gentlemen and lady, hope I didn’t keep you waiting?” I say and try to put on my best facial expression. “Not at all Mr Grande, you’re right on time.” One of the investors says. “We’ve briefed them about everything and they’ve chosen the items they need. We just need your signature to approve this contract and they make payment that’s all” Mr Musk states. “Oh, I’ll sign the necessary documents now,” I say as I sign the necessary documents. We shake hands and that’s the end of the meeting. I make my way to my office. As I enter my office I see the heap of files and documents that need to be signed by me on my table. “Today is going to be a bit busy,” I say to myself before collapsing into my chair and start signing them. After a while, I hear a knock on my door, “yes come in” I say without raising my head from the document, I hear the door swing open. “Good morning handsome” I hear a familiar voice “Urgh, this b***h is here,” I thought to myself. “Good morning Oma, what brings you to my office?” I ask as I raise my head. She’s wearing a revealing dress so I know what she’s here for, it’s not her first time. “I just came to greet my soon-to-be mate, it’s so rare to see you in the office like this,” she says with her cheeks flushed as she leans on the table trying to show her breast. I look away and back into the documents, I can feel my wolf getting angry, Xavier does not like Oma’s presence. “As you can see I’m very busy, please excuse me,” I say sternly without looking up. I hear her grumbling before standing up and leaving my office.

The day goes by with me signing the files and documents, approving budgets and Alex being a pain in my ass. I hear the sound of thunder clapping and the sky rumbling, “it’s about to rain again” I thought to myself. I pick up my phone to call Alex, “Let’s go home before it begins to rain” I say to him. “Okay we’ll meet in the parking lot in 2 minutes,” he says on the other end of the phone. I pack my briefcase and make my way to the parking lot.

I get to the parking lot and Alex is there already. “James, why are your eyeballs red?” he asks with a serious look. “Oh s**t I’m about to have another attack,” I say in my head. “Quick get inside the car,” he says as he enters the car too. As I enter the car I feel uneasy and, in pain. My head is spinning. Alex drives with fast speed despite the rain pouring. As we approach the turning to Mo’s motel I start to feel less pain as if I’m nearing an antidote, Alex's voice snaps me out of my thought, “James, James you’re not groaning as loudly as you were, Is it reducing?” He asks looking at me. “Alex it’s like a miracle, the pain is reducing,” I say surprised. All of a sudden, Alex stops, “Oh s**t I think I just splashed water on someone, I need to apologize.” he parks properly and comes down, it’s a lady and as I stare at her Xavier for some reason seems excited, “maybe it’s because we just survived another attack” I say to myself. “What’s taking Alex so long? I need to see for myself” I step out of the car, it’s still raining but it’s not heavy, it’s just light drops, I look towards the lady and I see Alex is about to give the lady his card, and wonder why. The lady stares at me so keenly, that Alex notices my presence and stops then gives me the look of “Why are you out of the car?” The lady is still staring at me so keenly that I feel her stare is boring a hole in my skin and I’m disgusted and offended by this. I am now in front of her and have to wave to get her to come back to reality.
