(Elara’s POV)
The moment I stepped into the Luna's Crescent lobby, the sound of Seraphina’s laughter reached my ears. I froze. My fingers twitched as if Lumi was urging me to brace for a fight before I even saw her.
She was surrounded by her entourage, a small group of wolves whose loyalty stemmed less from respect and more from self-interest. They always trailed behind her like shadows, laughing at her sharp, cutting comments that usually came at someone else’s expense. Today, that someone was me.
“Well, if it isn’t Crescent Moon’s little outsider,” Seraphina said, her voice dripping with faux sweetness. Her sharp eyes found mine immediately, and the corners of her lips curled into a poisonous smile.
