Aria’s POV
"She's coming through." Someone said as my eyes stirred open and I made to rise from the bed.
I groaned as pain shot through my entire body, leaving me with no time to register the face before me.
"Don't move. Your body is barely healing and the last thing you want to do is cause yourself more discomfort." The same feminine voice told me as she gently nudged me back onto the bed. "Drink." She commanded as I felt a cool metal against my lips. My throat was parched and I slowly parted my lips, sighing in relief as I greedily gulped down the cold water.
"Easy." The voice urged before the cup was taken away from my lips.
I slowly blinked some of the drowsiness I was feeling, and that was when I got a better look of the face behind the voice- a petite woman with big b blue eyes was staring down at me.
"I have to admit Luna, you gave us quite a scare there." The woman smiled at me but I couldn't recognise her face.
Luna?
All the memories of the previous day flooded my mind. I forced myself to sit up, ignoring the pains in my body as I took in my surroundings, but nothing felt familiar.
Not even the face of the woman beside me.
"Don't push yourself." The woman tried to urge me back onto the bed but I shrugged her off.
"Where is Curtis?" I demanded.
The woman frowned. "Who?" She asked.
I sighed, and decided to rephrase. "Where am I?" I asked, as that was the most logical question to ask given I was in a totally different room
The woman looked at me like I'd lost my mind for a minute. "You're in your room–”
“This isn't my room,” I cut in. “And who the hell are you?” I demanded angrily, throwing the covers off me.
I froze, as I looked down at my arms but there was no trace of a burn. Had I been hallucinating?
I vividly recalled the smell of my flesh and the scorching pain as I was being burnt at the stake.
“How am I still alive?” I muttered under my breath.
“It's a miracle, Luna–”
“Miracle?” I muttered in disbelief. “What sort of miracle erases a burn mark?”
“Burn mark?” The woman asked, clearly confused. “There's no burn mark–”
“No!” I screamed, a searing pain tore through my head. It felt like a thousand needles were prickling my brain.
“I think I should call Alpha Jaxon-”
“Alpha who?” I managed to ask.
“Alpha Jaxon, your mate,” she responded, looking at me wearily.
“What?”
The woman didn't respond, and was about to leave.
“Wait,” I called out to her. “What happened to me?”
“You–”
She stopped mid sentence as the door swung open, and a man about 6’4 stepped in. His entire presence oozed power and authority. I could already tell he was an Alpha.
“Greetings, Alpha Jaxon,” the petite woman bowed.
The man nodded in response, he glanced over at me, making my heart skip a beat at the coldness in his gaze.
“How's she doing?” he asked in a baritone voice that seemed to echo in the entire room.
Something stirred within me, and before I could make sense of it the woman spoke next.
The woman sighed, and glanced at me with pity. “Luna Kiera is acting a bit strange.”
Luna Kiera? Who the hell was that?
"I think we should speak in private, Alpha,” the woman requested.
The man glanced at me once more before nodding, and they both walked out.
Luna Kiera? I couldn't get the name out of my head.
I took a good look at the room, and there was nothing special about it. There was a medium sized bed, which I'm sitting on, a vanity and a dresser, a couch, and a small table beside the couch.
Sitting down here and trying to figure things out wasn't going to lead anywhere. I need to find answers, most especially why I am being referred to as Kiera, instead of Aria.
My head still felt like it was split in halves as I got out of bed, but I managed to make my way towards the bathroom, as I suddenly felt the urge to pee.
“What the hell?” I staggered backwards in panic, as I cut a glimpse of my reflection–someone else's reflection in the mirror.
Staring back at me was a girl with emerald green eyes, and wavy long red hair.
“This got to be a dream,” I muttered under my breath, as I opened the faucet and splashed water on my face, hoping to wake up from whatever sick dream I was in.
I raised my head up, and stared back at the image on the mirror, when something unexpected happened–my eye color changed to gold, and a voice boomed in my ears.
“What the hell did you do to Kiera?”
