CHAPTER 4:

1073 Words
The sun was about to set, casting a warm golden glow across the sky; the pathway ahead bathed in a soft, amber light. The trees that flanked the path swayed in the evening breeze. Their leaves catch the last rays of sunlight. They were creating a mesmerizing dance of light and shadow. “I’m at an unfamiliar place once again,” I said as I realized I was walking into the pathway. I don’t know where this pathway is heading. I kept walking and walking, but I didn’t feel any pain in my feet or any shortness of breath from walking. And even though I ordered myself to stop walking, I kept forward. It seems like my heart wants to pursue something that turns out to be someone. “Where is he?” I said as I looked around. There is a hint in my head that I will be able to see the same werewolf I saw before. The black werewolf has black and yellow eyes. I wanted to see him again, talk to him again, and this time I wanted to spend time with him for a minute longer. “Hey, can you please show yourself?” my voice gets louder. I squeeze my biceps while my arms crossed. Finally, I stopped walking. I still didn’t reach the end of the pathway, its looks like I’m still at the spot where I have been since I got here. But this time, I hope he will hear and show himself to me. My hands clutched together, having an expanding feeling in my chest. I focus, listening to the distant chirping of crickets filling the air. Hoping it will change into a howl of the werewolf. My gaze turns to the pathway again as I smell a scent warm and sensual; it's amber. My eyes get broad and rounded, with very few blinks. I started to walk fast, which turned into a jog, then ran. Now that I know where the werewolf is, my stomach flutters. There is an adrenaline that causes hyper-alertness in me. Then after a few moments of running, I saw him standing before me and looking at the left side of the pathway. A broad grin flashes on my lips, and my eyes sparkle and gleam when a lightness in my chest occurs. “You finally reached me, huh?” he said, looking to the other side. I am a few steps away from him, and I’m thinking about what we should do together as we now see each other again. I don’t mind walking this pathway again if that’s what he wishes to do—or staying here and talking about some random things. I also don’t care if we stare at each other. Anything is fine as long as we’re together. “Are you waiting for my arrival?” my grin never left my lips; I never see myself acting hyper like this before. He sits, remaining on his spot. Its height is evident even when he is in a sitting position. It looks like he won’t answer my question. But it’s fine as long as he stays still. At this very moment, the only thing that matters to me is to have time to spend with him. I crouch on my heels. “Can we be like this forever?” I don’t hesitant either to verbalize what I am thinking right now. I want to show him that I am prepared to be with him, even what its costs. He finally looks at me. But my mouth fell when I saw how empty his stare was. I look at his eyes, and it feels like I saw his kind of stare before, but I can’t remember when and how it happened. That stare made me want to come near and hold him as if my hand could remove everything bothering him. “You reached the place where we can be together. But this is not the right time for that. You’re too early.” My eyes blink fast as my mouth opens, but nothing comes out. When we first met, the werewolf also said weird things. I assume I’ll get the correct answer now, but things have become vague. I even wondered why I was this fond of this werewolf since then. “What should I do? I want to be with you!” I swallowed hard as I didn’t break our eye contact. Then right after that, I found myself lying on a different bed. I recognize that it is not the bed where I used to sleep; this is not the house where I lived with my parents. The room is plain compared to my old room, the same as the bedsheet. And I only have one cabinet here. My other stuff is not here as well. “Ah, I remember moving here yesterday. It is my first day as a nanny for Mr. Harrington’s daughter!” I immediately get up from bed the moment I realize everything. As expected from a billionaire's mansion like Mr. Harrington's, it is a luxury. Each room for maids has its comfort room. So I don’t need to go outside my room to do my business; I can access it here. I didn’t waste my time anymore and started preparing for my first work day here. Yesterday when I arrived, the head maid tour me around the house. To Mr. Harrington’s, Lily’s, other parts of the mansion, and our rooms. For maid’s rooms, we have three. The four maids occupy the other two rooms, and as luck would have it, I don't have a roommate in this room, so I'm all alone here. The head maid, Miss Martina, instructed me to start my day by taking a bath. She also reminded me not to remove my eyes from my ward. She looks more strict and severe than our boss while telling me what I should and shouldn’t do, but I can get along with her. While changing my clothes, I heard a knock outside the door of my room. “Raeliana, are you up? Sir Damian is looking for you.” I know it is Miss Martina’s voice. “Coming!” I answered as I dressed up. But when I heard Mr. Harrington’s first name, I remembered my dream this morning. It was like the werewolf I met in my dream had a similar feature to my boss.
