The Fall of the Great Wall

2063 Words
Kierra POV Two days ago we fought an army to save Dillon from his own mother. It was crazy to think that today she'd be coming back. Dad wasn't happy when I told him I'd be joining him to wait for Lisa to come back to her cave. Sierra was with Dillon who was healthy but couldn't be here. I can't say I blame him having to arrest your own parent would definitely be hard. Though I couldn't say I wouldn't do it. That's just how I am right is right and wrong is wrong and if you don't do what's right you need to face the punishment. It's why me and Char fight so much because he makes sure I see the grey line I prefer to ignore. Char actually was with a different group today. Dad was leading three groups of five guards. Me and Char we're in the two flanking either side of the cave while dad faced the cave. We weren't sure what time today she'd be in so we have been here for hours. Yet nothing has happened. We've had scouts watching the cave for the past two days and they reported that nothing has happened in or around the cave in the last few days. It was strangely quiet. I mean me and Char may have killed and entire army in there. But you would imagine if someone was capable of having an entire army they'd also have scouts and other resources. Dad caught the captain who had betrayed our original plan while we were out getting Sarah so he wasn't a problem anymore. Just call it gut instincts but I could tell there was something else going on. I decided to leave my dad's guards and sneak my way over to him. He always trusted my gut more so after realizing it was probably my intuition like Sierra and Sarah's. As soon as my dad seen me he spoke to his guards then pulled me to the side to speak to me. "What's wrong?" he asked concern etching is face. His green eyes had never looked so tired before. "I don't know I just don't feel right my gut says we need to go home," I told him. "Okay grab Char and go home. I'm going to stay here for two more hours if nothing happens I'll be home to and just leave the guards. Don't forget you can link me if anything happens please just link me." Dad told me before turning to head back to the front line. He didn't make it though as I was heading to Char we heard an ear splitting crash. Looking torwards the inner wall the a large section of the wall itself was crashing. Merpeople on either side of the wall were in chaos as they tried to escape the falling portion of the wall. Large chunks falling and crushing houses as well as part of the castle on the other side. I tried to think of exactly what part of the castle was being crushed and realized it was the med center. Sarah and Max were there. Max had a lot of scars and some broken bones so he hadn't been released yet and Sarah refused to leave him. Despite the fact that he was refusing to talk to her or anyone else for that matter. I didn't want to think about Sarah being hurt so I immediately linked her. "Are you okay?" "We are trapped the roof caved I managed to get us underneath a one of the stone tables but we can't get out of here. The nurse is screaming I can see blood but not her. Sierras on her way but she said everyone is running away from the med area because more of the wall is still falling on us." Sarah linked frantically. "Sierra be careful, I'm on my way" I linked both of them before taking off. Char had made his way to me while I was busy linking my sisters with my dad on my other side we made our way to the castle entrance. The guards that were to watch the cave were now scattered across the area were the village needed the most attention. Though dad sent a few scouts to watch inside and out of the cave. The scouts may not be able to detain Lisa but they could let us know if she came and what she did when she got there. There were so many people everywhere and we were trying to fight our way through. Normally people would move out of our way. But they were trying to help the injured and had started to pull rubble off of homes where screams could be heard. When we finally made it to the entrance of the castle many people from the castle stood around staring at the destruction. "You guards I need you to set up an an area for the hurt get the largest room available there are going to be a lot of injured people." Dad started ordering people around like the great Chief he was. He was worried about mom, Sarah, and Sierra but he had a tribe to take care of. I grabbed five guards saying follow me. As I led them to the med area they started fidgeting. Not liking the idea of going into danger. Palace guards sure had gotten lazy. I kept going leading us over fallen walls till we got to where our path was completely blocked. Using my echolocation I was able to find the weakest part of the blockage. "Men help me pull this wall down start from the top here," I pointed where it was safe to pull loose stones. We all got to work all the while I was linking Sarah and Sierra. Sierra was dealing with the same problem on the other side that I was. She had found one guard and had to beg him to get him to help her. When this was all over I was taking these men and training them. They were pathetic! We were considered Princesses and we were out working the guards sworn to protect us! It took a few hours before I was had made a path to the med center entrance. I started on working on getting the nurse out safely. Luckily Sarah, Max, and the nurse had been the only ones in the area when the wall went down. I think the wall was a distraction. It took another hour before I got to the nurse and had a guard take her to wherever my dad set up the clinic for all of these people. Seeing as this entire wing of the castle had been destroyed. Shortly after I started digging Sarah out Sierra finally was able to get through on the other side. "Sorry, I had to help the doctors and nurse out along the way." she said. The doctors lived in this wing so with the whole wing being destroyed it wasn't a surprise they had also been trapped. The palace guards should have been here helping ages ago. "You're fine just help me get Sarah out safely." I told her before directing the guard she had with her and Dillon on what and where to help. With the added hands we were able to get to Sarah and Max with in a half hour. We pulled Max out first as Sarah refused to go before him. "Okay watch your head. There you go. You got him Dillon?" I asked. Dillon nodded and Char went to Maxes other side to help hold him up. Max wasn't hurt exhausted definitely. But it was an emotional exhaustion he was fighting I couldn't imagine what that'd be like. "Okay Sarah grab my hand." She did but as she did a few rocks started to fall from above us. Char grabbed me and pulled me out of the way while I screamed. "Sarah!" Before any rocks could hit her though Max threw himself at her pushing her under the table while taking a hit to the head. He started to go sideways and Dillon grabbed him. Sierra was already taking care of him and I was headed back for Sarah. Throwing the rocks out of my way yelling, "Are you okay?" When I reached her she was coughing and holding her hand which looked out of shape so I took it and cracked it back in place. Thank Posiden we heal fast! I sent as a silent prayer. As soon as I pulled Sarah out of the rubbish she was beside Max. "Max are you okay? How could you do that?! I just got you back I can't lose you!" Sarah started yelling at Max. Max actually smiled and took his hand to her cheek. Honestly I hadn't paid much attention to Max before. I originally thought he was weak for breaking mentally but he looked so strong right then. I looked to Char then linked, "we need to get everyone out of here quickly before more of the ceiling starts to fall." Char nodded then motions to Dillon they heaved Max up. I told the guards to send word that we were on our way before helping Sarah up. We made our way through the broken walls back the way I came. It was hard to look at this wing destroyed like this. This was my home and someone had attacked it they would pay for it dearly and more so because my family got hurt. When we reached the main corridor we were told to follow someone. I realized they were taking us to the egg room. Mermaids were born from eggs. Or as humans depending on how the parents decided they wanted to live and where they wanted to raise their young. It was the biggest area we had that was open. As me and my sisters were all to young to have children yet. When we entered the room I noticed that there were more merpeople injured than I had expected. Mom was even helping wrap merpeople who needed it. When she seen us come in she finished wrapping the merman's arm she was working on and made her way to us. She circled each if us girls making sure we were okay. "We're fine mom we heal fast remember?" I told her while grabbing her in for a hug. I know she was just worried but other merpeople needed her now. "Can you look at Max he was hit with a large rock in the head saving me," Sarah asked her with pleading eyes. "Lay him down here and let me take a look." mom said. She examined his head before going and getting a doctor they spoke in hushed voices. Then they both left. I could tell Sarah was internally freaking out so I linked her. "It's okay, mom will be back and tell us whats going on." Sarah simply grabbed my hand for support. A few minutes later mom came back with a jar of green looking slush and a wrap. she smeared the slush on his cut and wrapped his head. Then turned to us. "Max has a mild concussion so we are going to have to keep an eye on him but otherwise everything else is okay " Sarah lot out a deep breath and it was only then that I realized she was holding her breath to begin with. "Is it okay if I stay with him," Sarah asked and mom nodded. "Can I help with anything?" Sierra asked and my mom said yes then they took off together. Sometimes I forget that Sierra did live with mom at one point and still remembered some of the things she was taught about this kind of stuff. I sighed and turned to Dillon and Char. "You mermen wanna come with me and find my dad?" I asked. They both said yes nodding and looking eager to get out of here. We managed to squeeze our way around a few doctors then made our way back to the entrance. What I hadn't expected to see was my dad talking to one of our scouts holding a battered up scout up. I bolted to them forgetting all about the boys. What the heck was going on around here?
