Freedom

Sierras POV My dad Liam had taken off after the war now that we were safe from Lisa's threat for a while he had to go and deal with Felicity. Honestly I had forgotten she even existed. We weren't sure if she was going to be coming to the ocean or not. Ultimately it was her decision and no one could force her. I would tell her to stay up there if it were up to me. She had, had me thrown into the ocean not knowing I was a mermaid. Felicity literally could have killed me. I hadn't even known how to swim actually I still didn't I could swim as a mermaid but I hadn't learned to swim in my human form yet. I sighed shaking myself from my thoughts mom, Sarah, and I still had a lot of work to do. The aftermath of the war was devastating. Most of Lisa's men had surrendered and the majority were heavily injured after being healed they were being sent to interrogation. My father Mitch was executing anyone who still sided with Lisa. I wasn't sure how it worked but the interrogators could get into your mind it was weird and I hoped I'd never have to go through that. Even now the screams from the interrogation room were louder than the screams of patients being treated. I had to say it was definitely a good way to psych out the waiting soldiers. Quickly healing the last set of soldiers that'd be seen today then wrapping and bandaging the ones who'd be dealt with tomorrow made for a long day. When it was finally time for dinner Mitch, Kierra, and Char didn't join us. Mom looked upset but just like the rest of us we all knew they were dealing with the soldiers in the dungeon. As well as helping with the interrogators needs and of course the executions. Me, mom, Sarah, Dillon, and Max all headed to bed. We never seen Kierra and Char as they came to get their dinner and then left with meals for the others. We didn't see how tired and numb they were from the draining day they had had. We were lucky to only have to heal the soldiers we didn't have to witness what happened after. Kierras POV I could barely sleep after yesterday and I knew I was in for another day of just the same. The interrogators were a cruel type of merpeople. They look like a regular merperson until they let out their veiny hair like tentacles. They are similar to a sacculina barnacle. Except instead of taking over their host and forcing them to care for them they simply use the veiny hair tentacles to read a merpersons mind. It's a painful process the veiny hair tentacles go up the merperson of interests nose. Watching as the interrogator is doing this now to my first prisoner of the day. The prisoner yells and starts to convulse as the veiny hair tentacles are forcing their way to his brain. What's scarier is the smile on the interrogators face as he does this. The interrogators enjoy their job a little to much in my opinion. The next thirty minutes are spent with the prisoners mind being read. It normally doesn't take this long but sometimes a person with a strong mind could fight back. I should mention how cruel I thought it was as the interrogator forced the veiny hair tentacles deeper and I heard the prisoner scream. An evil smile on the interrogators face told me the prisoner was done fighting and soon the tentacles were being extracted. "He still sides with the witch," the interrogator told me. I grabbed the prisoner and took him to the executioner. The prisoner tried to fight me off but was to weak. "She'll be back you know! This isn't over she'll kill you all and drain you of your powers!!" The prisoner yelled. I kicked his legs out from under him and the exocutioner didn't even wait chopping his head from his body in one swift movement. I didn't think much on it there was no point j just went behind the interrogator as he began on the next prisoner. I couldn't believe how many of our own men still sided with Lisa. They had lost yet they acted as if they won. I just couldn't understand why they'd rather die than give up loyalty to her. It took a week but we finally had cleared out the dungeon. Then we began finishing construction that had begun while we were busy. It may take a while but things were finally moving in the right direction. My only concern was that Lisa was still out there somewhere. Sarah's POV It was a sunny day and us girls were laying back trying to tan even though we knew we wouldn't. Watching the boys play around with their weapons. Max had picked up on the dual swords and I had been learning them as well. It was crazy to think a week ago we were at war and before that I had thought my family and the love of my life were all dead. Even if Lisa was still out there I was ready to celebrate the victory we had just had. Words could not describe the love I had for these people and to be a part of this family and this clan was a dream come true. We all laughed and played and I enjoyed true freedom for the first time ever. But while we enjoyed our time we didn't notice the man in all black standing in the shadows watching us. Nor did we notice when he slipped away and quickly made his way through the town and out into the sea....
