Finding Dillon

2073 Words
It's been a week since Dillon took off. A week since Sierra locked herself away from everyone. A week since Kierra and Char threw themselves into extreme work out. A week of my parents that I just met being so worried about my siblings I've barely been able to get to know them. I never imagined that I'd meet my family. Let alone could I have imagined meeting them and being so occupied with everything that I can't get to know them. I'm currently sitting in a quiet room meditating while everyone else is busy. Dillon may have been upset but he didn't seem like the type to just ditch Sierra. Especially after the stories I was told. He had promised to make it up to her and I could see the love in his eyes when he said it. He would not just leave her like this he couldn't have. I sighed and got up off the floor. This wasn't working I needed either Sierra or Kierras help. Preferably Sierra Kierra always distracted me. That's it I'm going to try to get her to help one last time! I stormed up the steps going up the tower Sierra had been holding herself in. When I made it to her she was asleep. I remember how I used to visit her in her dreams and decided it'd have to work. At this point I was ready to try anything. I placed my hand on her shoulder. Pushing her green hair out of the way so it'd be skin to skin contact. I started meditating humming and finally it happened. I was back in Lisa's cave. She was laughing at Dillon who was behind bars. "You made this so easy for me you know?" she told her son. "They are strong mom you'll never beat them you might as well give up now!" Dillon yelled trying to grab his mom. She laughed before saying, "When they realize your here they'll come and that's when I'll trap them. You falling for Sierra and falling for you it's just to good. You'll be safe here until they come and get you. That's when you'll be a good little boy and force them to help me. I have the perfect thing to force your hand. I'll be back in two days with the potion then you will do exactly what I want!" Sierra broke us out of the vision grabbing my hand, "We have to save him! We have to stop her!" By the time Sierra and I were able to round everyone up it was already to late to catch Lisa. We were sure she was already gone so we set up a plan. Right now our small group was getting things together so that we could save Dillon before Lisa came back. Mom and dad were coming up with a way to trap but not harm Lisa. We would have trapped Lisa but when me and Sierra came to Kaylas trial was in full swing. From what I heard they weren't taking it easy in the half sister of the Chieftess. Mom and dad couldn't hold the trial due to the fact that she was mom's half sister. Plus she had stolen their kid so dad wasn't allowed to kill her out of vengeance. Kayla would spend the rest of her life behind bars. And if we could catch Lisa and the doctor who helped in my fake death they'd be joining her. Looking around it looked like everyone was ready. Sierra leading us and Char at the rear we made our way to Lisa's cave. We expected there to be guards by when we came up to the entrance and seen and army we realized we were under prepared. But it didn't matter they had seen us and we had seen them. Sierra started cutting through people with her short sword if you hadn't known shed only just learned to use it you would have thought she'd been mastering it for years. Kierra still out glowed us all though with her long sword she could take on more than one soldier at a time. Char almost keeping up with her. I just tried to help where I could. Honestly I hadn't been trained for very long. What I did have was speed on my side and as soon as I seen the opening I swam straight through the army. They tried to follow me but Kierra seen what I was doing and stopped them from going any further. I pushed myself forward through the dark cave using echolocation I found many tunnels leading all different directions. I was about to shoot in the dark when Sierra grabbed my wrist. With a nodded we used the echolocation and seen which tunnel led to Dillon. Two guards were standing in our way but it didn't stop either of us from diving to the tunnel that led to Dillon. Sierra was able to knock both guards down and I swam past getting to Dillon. "Where's the key?" I asked him. "The guards" He croaked. It was obvious that Lisa did something to knock poor Dillon out. How could a mother put her own son through this and for what power? It was crazy! I turned to see Sierra being pinned by a guard. The other guard had a sinister look as he came torwards me. I used my speed to swim out of his grip knocking the guard off Sierra. The guards were obviously surprised but I knew they wouldn't fall for the trick twice. Me and Sierra pulled our weapons back out facing off with the guards. One guard came at us while the other swam to Dillon. Before we could kill the first guard the second put a knife to Dillons freezing everyone in place. "Drop your weapons or I'll kill him!" The second guard said. "Dev what the hell are you doing? That's Lisa's son!" the first guard said. "I don't give a f*ck who's son he is I won't die for this s**t!" Dev said digging his knife into Dillons throat hard enough to draw blood. Dillon made a small grunt. Then suddenly the guards were on the ground as Sierra yelled "STOP!" in the same scream she used to knock out the whole room the other day. I just realized as she did it that she was the cause of all of us suddenly blacking out! What the heck was she doing when she screamed like that to knock people out. I didn't have time to ask as Sierra was already grabbing the keys off the first guard. She slammed her fin on Devs face. With a satisfying crunch blood started gushing out of his nose. I didn't care for the violence but knew she needed it. With shaking hands she opened the cell and suddenly she was pulling Dillon up. I turned away as they caught each other's lips. I felt like I was invading on something very private with the way they were looking at each other. I looked at the cell across from Dillons and noticed a heap of cloth? What the heck was that? I quickly went over used one of my dual swords to lift the cloth. Underneath was a merman with cuts all across his body. I don't know what came over me but I had to free him. I turned around and grabbed the keys from Sierra. She tried to stop me I could hear her yelling at me. She just seen a merman she didn't trust but I seen Max my Max! He had cuts everywhere his grey eyes looked dull and lifeless and his dirty blonde hair was stuck to his faces caked with blood. He was supposed to be dead but by the looks of it he was facing a fate worse than death. He must have been here for two years since the day Kayla had him drug away. He used to be my personal guard, he was my age so Kayla figured I'd trust him. But he refused to treat me the way everyone else did he tried to get me out of there. We were caught before we even made it out of the castle. Lyla was in love with Max though we didn't know it she had been following us. She hated me for his death and all along he was alive here what would she think of her mother after she seen what she had done to Max. I grabbed him looking for any open wounds but as far as I could see the blood was just old dried blood from cut after cut. I pulled his arm around my shoulder and looked at Sierra who held confusion in her eyes but a steady face. Again I thought how she would make a great Chieftess one day. "This is Max he once tried to save me from Kayla and it cost him his life," I said then swam past her not letting her ask any questions. Sierra didn't even try to ask she just helped Dillon and we started making our way to Kierra and Char. When we got back to the entrance of the cave it looked like a cult site. Bodies and blood strung everywhere and in the center sat Kierra and Char back to back. Kierra had one cut across her eye brow but otherwise was fine. Char wasn't so lucky holding his side you could see someone had cut him deep. Small cuts littered his arms and chest but he was sitting there trying to look fine all the same. "Hey look they went for one merman and came back with two you girls sure are man eaters." Char joked before falling to the floor with and umph. Kierra had stood up abruptly letting him fall. She may love him but she hated his jokes. "Who is this?" Kierra asked as she swam to investigate the merman in my arms. "His name is Max he was my guard and tried to save me from Kayla and it cost him his life," I repeated like a broken record. She nodded then said, "Well let's get home we've got to get the boys taken care of. Who would have thought us princesses would have to save our princes isn't it supposed to be the other way around." She giggled while pulling Char up while he struggled to do it himself. Not liking the way she said she saved him. "I killed just as many as you!" he yelled at her. "So what I didn't let one get behind me and slice my side then need to be saved before having my head chopped off." She said still laughing and pulling Char out of the cave. The whole way back people put their hands over there hearts and bowed there heads. Normally only the Chief and Chieftess would get suck an honor but seeing the mess that we all were the tradition was being passed to us. It felt good to say we got a small win now we just had to wait for Lisa to come back and it'd all be over. We made our way to the castle being bombarded with hundreds of questions by our parents. They weren't exactly told about the rescue Dillon plan. We weren't about to let him stay there though. I had to repeat for the third time who Max was but this time dad said he'd need to talk to me later to learn more about him. For now though we were off to the med center. Me and Sierra didn't know where we were going following Kierra through the maze till we came upon a room full of mermen and mermaids waiting for us. They grabbed the merman from us Char still protesting the whole time. I reluctantly let Max go as they took him to get him checked. For the next hour dad yelled at us for putting ourselves in such danger. It was worse when he got word of the army of mermen that Kierra and Char took care of. He kept going on and on. It wasn't until a nurse came in whispering in dad's ear that he stopped. "This isn't over!" he yelled waving at us to go. None of us questioned it we just started following the nurse back to our mermen.
