Sarah's POV
I woke up again to a dream of two twin mermaids who oddly looked like me. I had always felt out of place here. My adopted mom Kayla was the Chieftess of the artic ocean and like this place she was cold. Or at least cold to me. She wasn't cold to her own daughter Lyla but I wasn't her real daughter so I was left out. I felt like a prisoner in my own home. I don't remember ever being out of the polar ice caps.
Two weeks ago I strangely had a dream of a human girl she had green hair brown eyes like mine and pale skin like mine as well. I didn't know her but for the first time I felt connected to someone. Fifteen years for fifteen years I have felt completely alone. After the first few night of seeing the human girl I'd try to force the dreams but they wouldn't always come.
At first she was doing normal things then I seen her get thrown into the ocean by some man. What was stranger than anything was the fact that after passing out she transformed into a mermaid. It was the first time I had seen the transformation. It was truly amazing.
It wasn't for another week that the dream came back but this time I seen another mermaid that looked exactly like the first except with the longest brown hair I had ever seen. It was past her green mermaid tail. I could only guess it was partly fake. Both mermaids apart from the hair were exact images of each other. Again I was hit with the feeling that I knew and was connected to these mermaids.
I then seen a mermaid and merman who also looked like the girls. The mermaid looked more like the first twin mermaid with the green hair they were both slim. She was definitely their mom with her long brown hair and brown eyes and a yellow tail. The merman who was obviously their dad, had brown hair ,green eyes, a muscular build similar to the second twin with the long brown hair, and a blue tail. For some reason I felt like they were my parents. Which I knew couldn't be true Kayla told me my parents were dead.
Even though I knew it wasn't possible I couldn't help but feel they were my family. It wasn't till I realized that Kayla kind of looked like the mother mermaid that I realized something was up. I tried to ask around and found out the maids and guards of our palace out right refused to talk about it.
They were always kind to me but I learned young that when Kayla had ordered something they would deny me but do so in a way I would know that it was because of her. Like my personal maid telling me she was forbidden of talking about it. So as a last resort I had decided today I would face Lyla and see what she knew. Lyla had a bad habit of spilling the beans on accident.
I swam to her large room. She was brushing her long blonde hair staring at her brown eyes which seemed a bit red. She must have had a fight with whoever was her boyfriend now. Her pink tail seemed to wrap around her pale skin.
"Lyla, do you have a second to talk?" I asked.
She groaned before answering. "I'm really not in the mood. But I know that your just going to talk anyways so get it over with."
"Recently I overheard that my mom and dad and sisters are still alive," I said.
"Oh, so mom had that talk with you? Well I mean yeah what's that got to do with me? I mean I know I'm your cousin but still no need to talk I'm sure you'll be on your way so bye?" she said the bye on a question as she turned around and seen my wide eyed expression. "You little b***h. My mom never said a word to you! Who told you!"
I didn't say anything I just swam as far as fast as I could. Lyla may have been free to roam out of the palace but she was lazy. Plus with my gift I could swim faster controlling the water around me to move through it faster.
Unfortunately it didn't matter how fast I was the guards stopped me at the door. "Let me go!" I yelled.
"I'm sorry Miss Sarah but you know we can not let you leave." one of the guards told me.
Before I could yell again I heard the one voice I was hoping to escape. "Sarah. A word. Now in my office." Kayla said swimming before I said anything.
I sighed and tried again to leave when a guard grabbed my arm forcing me to the office. When I was shoved through her door I was face to face with the monster who claimed my family was dead. Knowing she only had one sister I knew now who my parents were Mira and Mitch of the Bermuda Triangle clan. The strongest clan.
"So you know who your family is now. Big deal. My sister gave you up. She didn't want you. I tried to save your feeling but you silly stupid girl you just had to go and force it out! How did you know? Who told you?" Kayla demanded.
"I don't believe you." I said refusing to answer her questions.
"The hard way it is GUARDS!!!" Kayla yelled. Her light brown hair seemed to swell around her. Her angry brown eyes voicing her hate for me. Her red tail glowing was the last thing I seen before I was dragged out and placed in the dungeon.
Again with this! Everytime I out smarted her I was placed in this dungeon. Every. Single. Time. I hated this place. I hated Lyla but above all I hated Kayla. I may not know my parents first hand but I had heard of them. I had heard if their love. Love for each other and love for their children. Something had to have happened they wouldn't have abandoned me I had to fight.
Being trapped with nothing to do I forced myself to meditate. One night I found that while I meditated I could enter my sister's dreams and that they dreamed of the future. But with the meditation I could manipulate the vision to make them see me. Every night I began to enter their dreams and call them to me. They could save me.
On the night they had escaped the evil witch I was finally relased from the dungeon. I went into their dream yet again like every night before. They were struggling with so much while I was in the dungeon I had two weeks before they'd get here it was my turn to fight.
So I decided I needed to talk to my head maid. Mary was an older mermaid. Blue eyes, grey hair, tan skin, and a purple tail she was always kind to me. Even when Lyla made fun of my hazel brown green eyes Mary cheered me up. Mary refused to lie to me. I knew I could trust her, but now I need to find out if she would go against Kayla to help me.
"Mary?!" I called out as I went into my small room.
"Oh thank goodness!" Mary yelled in a voice filled with relief. She must have been cleaning cause she popped up from around my small mirror. "What did you do to get locked away for so long?"
"I found out the truth." I told Mary and she gasped.
"The, The truth about what?" she asked nervously.
"About who I really am, and where I come from." I said boldly.
"You know?" she asked startled. "Then what are you doing here you need to get out while you can!"
"I tried! That's why I was locked up. That sneaky Lyla beat me to her mom before I could get out!" I yelled in defeat. "You have to help me Mary!" I pleaded.
"Well of course I'll help you! But you have to have a plan Kayla may be Mira's half sister but she married our poor chief and then he died a year later making her our Chieftess and sole ruler." Mary said. I already knew this I always suspected she killed her husband for after gaining her title and I knew many of her "followers" thought the same.
"My sister's are on their way, I need to make sure they can get me. How many people want to see Kayla's cruel rule come to an end because kidnapping a Chiefs daughter is a crime even a Chieftess can't escape." I asked.
"I'll spread the word but the arrest won't be made until your sisters show up. When will they be here?" she asked. Not even questioning how I knew. Raising me she knew I possessed weird powers. Now I knew she knew I possessed more than we even imagined.
"Two weeks," I told her and she was off.
I spent the next two weeks sneaking the supplies I'd need to travel back to the Bermuda Triangle clan. The visions said we needed to be together to defeat the evil sea witch. If only they knew Kayla had been involved. I already had everything in place for myself but there was one thing left to handle.... Lyla.
Lyla wasn't actually evil and I knew this she just followed whatever her mom said to do. She was sixteen and therefore old enough to take over the Arctic Clan. I would have to stay after my sister's arrived to ensure she knew how to take care of the place.
I was making my way to her now. Knowing my sister's would be here any minute. I was almost there when I heard a ruckus outside the palace. Suddenly my sisters and two mermen busted through the doors. I gasped as they fought the guards.
Lyla swam out of her room and with an air of authority I didn't know she possessed she yelled, "Halt!" Everyone stopped what they were doing. "What in the world is going on here!"
"We are here for our sister!" yelled the twin with long brown hair.
"That's fine take her like I care!" Lyla yelled and I swear the green haired twin unknowingly used her powers as Lyla was shoved against the wall.
"Unhand my daughter!" I heard Kayla yell. She was swimming torwards us when a wall of guards came out of no where stopping her in her tracks. They grabbed her and put her in chains before she could say anything more.
In shock the green haired twin dropped Lyla. Lyla began to scream, "Let my mom go!"
It was my turn to stop her. "Your mother is coming with us! She has to face her crimes!" I yelled at my cousin.
"What in the world are you talking about?!" she asked. I knew she knew some but wouldn't know it all.
"Your mom was hired by the evil sea witch to tell my parents I was dead and steal me I had a vision and asked around the guards are simply doing their job. I hate to say take her this way but before I go Id like to tell you congratulations!" I said.
"Congratulations on what?" She asked before yelling, "Your kidnapping my mom!"
"Congratulations on your new position as Chieftess" I said and bowed my head and all of her people placed their hands over their hearts bowing their heads. Showing that they were all going to be loyal to her now. I seen the redness of her eyes and knew she was fighting the sobs.
Lyla knew she couldn't do anything the trial would have to take place in the Bermuda Triangle clan. As a knew Chieftess she wouldn't even be able to leave to attend the trial so she simply bowed her head back to me.
"Safe travels Chief Mitch's daughters bring make sure you keep my mom safe on your travels" Lyla said before she was bombarded by people to take on her new role and with that I swam to meet my sister.
