The Trip Home Part Two

When I woke I pushed my tail back with all my strength slamming my back into the back of the cave. "Ouch that had to hurt," I heard Kierra in front of me. "Sierra it's okay," Kierra moved closer to me. My eyes were so blurred I could nearly make her out.

"What?" I asked. Kierra pointed behind us and I looked. I seen blurred shapes that vaguely looked like more merpeople. "I can't see, what is it?" I asked.

"You can't see?" Kierra asked a little frantically. "You must have given yourself a concussion just now." she sighed. I lifted my fingers to the back of my head where I had slammed into the cave wall and it came back sticky. I looked up at Kierra and showed her my hand. "Oh jeez, mom we need your help!" Kierra yelled.

I started seeing one of the shapes come closer and as she did I became dizzy starting to slump down the wall. My mom was now in front of me saying something but I couldn't understand her. She kept talking though and I just kept trying and failing to understand.

I felt the connection as Kierra pulled me off the wall. My hand went to hers without my understanding why. I could tell my mom was checking the back of my head but I couldn't really tell what she was doing. Then I looked at my hand I had given to Kierra to see something wrapped around my hand it looked green. What the heck had happened?

It felt like I was stuck in my own mind for a long time before the fog started to lift. Mom and Kierra were still right beside me. I could now tell that the other shapes were my dad as he interrogated the eel merman. I could hear them yelling back and forth not really understanding what was going on.

"Umm guys what happened?" I asked my mom and sister.

"Oh thank Poseidon you're okay." Kierra said.

"Yeah my head still hurts but I can understand you guys and see you now," I said waving off her worried look.

"Let me check your head." My mom said pulling me to face away from her. "By Poseidon's hand it's healed," my mom said and Kierra gasped. Kierra grabbed my hand that was wrapped in what looked like seaweed and gasped again.

"Your hand is completely healed to, how?" Kierra said looking at our mom.

"What do you mean it's healed?" I asked looking at my hand it looked perfectly normal to me then I took my hand to investigate the back of my head and sure enough the gash was no longer there. "I don't understand I never healed like this before?" I said questioningly turning to my mom.

"I honestly don't know how it must be because you guys are together now. Kierra let me see your hands." My mom said grabbing Kierras hands I looked too whatever had been there was gone.

Kierra looked amazed grabbed a sharp rock and poked her self. "Ouch," I said grabbing my own hand. "Why would you do that?" I asked.

Kierra didn't answer me she started to clean the wound and before she could even finish we could see the skin knitting itself back together. "Oh my Poseidon do you know how awesome this is!" Kierra yelled excitedly. "Char will never be able to beat me again!" she yelled giggling.

"Who's Char?" I asked her. But Kierra was already running to Mitch to show him poking herself again. I hissed and looked at my mom hoping she'd answer.

"Char is your sister's boyfriend," she said.

I could hear Kierra yell, "He's not my boyfriend."

I giggled and said, "if he's not then you want him to be cause I can feel it." I heard Kierra groan and we all started laughing.

Not much later Mitch said we needed to go. He pulled eel dude along as we went. The rest of the trip went smoothly. Catching food on our way Kierra and Mitch would take turns sleeping at night watching over eel dude. I started to grow closer to my family and even Mitch was feeling more like a dad now. Though I wasn't ready to call him that.

I lost track of how many days it was before Kierra told me that we would make it home long before night this morning. I was so excited I couldn't even help myself. "We're really gonna make it home tonight?" I asked.

Kierra giggled, "Yes we really will be there today." I let out a little yip in excitement. Everyone laughed at me and I just ignored them to excited to care.

"How long till we get there," I asked.

"No more than two hours," Mitch answered tugging hard on eel dude. Who grunted and tried to pull but didn't have the strength to fight. Mitch had been feeding him enough to keep h alive but that was it.

True to Mitchs word it only took about two hours before I started seeing large rock structures. I had never seen a castle in real life but it looked like all the castles in movies. Surrounded by large mountains forming a circle around the town of small rock homes. A large rock wall separated the town from the palace.

When we reached a small tunnel in the mountains between the rest of the sea and the town there stood two mermen with tridents. They were very large and had muscles upon muscles. Both mermen had black hair and blue eyes one was pale but the other had a very dark carmel tan.

The one with a carmel tan spoke saying, "Welcome home Chief and Chieftess the Chiefs daughters?" He double glanced as if to make sure he did see two. "Deer Poseidon theirs two Kierras now? I could barely handle one!"

Kierra scoffed at him, "Char you could never handle me and you definitely can't handle me and Sierra."

He gasped and whispered, "We'll see about that." Kierra turned to start a fight but Mitch yelled enough and everyone went quite.

"Char seeing as you have time to play around take this prisoner to the prison and send for an internation team. I want to know everything!" With that Mitch turned and started leading us through the busy and beautiful town torwards the castle.

The town is so busy and colorful. I noticed there are merpeople with all kinds of tails. Not just the traditional looking one like mine and my family's or the eel like tail of the prisoner but many different types. My favorite so far is a woman who looks like her body is connected to a giant jelly fish. It's amazing!

As we get closer and closer to the castle I get more excited I can't wait to start exploring. Though I can already tell I'll get list easily. When we finally enter through the entrance of the large stone wall where to more guards stand I finally see the entrance. It's huge the whole place is beautiful. From afar the castle looked like it was made of white stone but up close it looked like smooth marble.

I almost took off by myself before Kierra grabbed my hand. I looked at her and she gave me a knowing smile. My emotions being so strong through the connection she could nearly read my mind. We all entered the castle me wide eyed and staring at everything there were beautiful archways. Sculptures of merpeople everywhere one reminding me if a sculpture of Poseidon in the center was huge.

While looking around I hadn't even noticed my dad swimming over to me until he said hey dear. I gasped and shot to him like a bullet wrapping my arms around him tight. "Dad!" I yelled without thinking and seen as Mitch flinched. All you could see was a swirl of green as me and my dad twisted around each other. No wonder dad's favorite color was also green.

Looking back I could see how much Mitch hated watching us. I knew Mitch was my birth father and it wasn't his fault he couldn't raise me. But my dad was Liam he's the one who raised me and I had already decided even if I called Mitch dad one day my dad would always be Liam. "Hey sweetie what took you guys so long?" he asked looking at my mom and Mitch.

Mitch angrily said, "we ran into some trouble the evil sea witch must have felt Sierras return like Kierra did because she sent a goon to attack us. Please tell me you have everything under control top side we don't need pesky humans poking around." I couldn't tell if Mitch was more upset about the attack or me calling Liam dad.

"Everything has been taken care of Sir," a familiar voice came from behind my dad. Looking around him I seen Dillon. He was here and a merman with a blue tail.

"You're a merman!" I screamed swimming to him.

"Well yeah obviously," Dillon said spinning around as if to show an outfit.

"Wait did you know I was a mermaid?" I asked him giving him a mean eye.

"No, I didn't even know I was until your dad told me he had to tell me something and that you were fine and he'd explain." Dillon said eyeing my dad.

"Wait so dad you knew Dillon was a merman but Dillon didn't," I asked looking his way. When he looked away from me refusing to meet my eye I knew it was true. "What is it with you guys and not telling you merchildren what they are!" I yelled.

"Well we've explained why we didn't tell you, Dillons case was different though hes only half merman and we weren't one hundred percent sure he could transform," my mom said coming to me and taking my hands. "I'm so sorry for all the secrets but it's how we stay safe." she sighed. I could see how tired she was from her face it must have taken a lot out of her the lies the loss I could see it written on her face.

"Not to change the subject but. Who am I kidding it's definitely to change the subject. Anyways I'm hungry and I'm sure by now the whole palace knows we're back so I'm heading to the dining room who's with me." Kierra said.

I immediately followed her and seen Dillon right behind me. I don't know if I could get used to the new nice Dillon but it seemed he was here to stay. He had even said he had been worried about me. It's so weird how quickly he changed though.

I shrugged it off realizing I had no clue where I was. I had been lost in thought mindlessly following Kierra and now we were in the dining room. There was a large low table and large comfy seats big enough to lay on and lean to the table so you could rest your tail and eat.

I seen different kinds of fish sea weed and some crab all set up for us to eat. As soon as I seen food my stomach grumbled telling the whole room that was beginning to fill with my family just how hungry I was. I said, "sorry" then quickly laid my tail down on the seat. It was cold but I found I liked the feel on my tail.

Once everyone was seated we all dug in. Kierra giggled as me and Dillon both fought to open our crabs with out hands. She smiled and I remember our razor sharp teeth. Looking at Dillon I took my crab and crunch. It opened right up I pulled the raw crab meat out and started eating. Dillon quickly got the clue and did the same. Thank you Kierra I said in my head. Two seconds later I heard your welcome.

I looked at her but did it again in my head saying, "you can hear me?"

She now looked at me and said, "Yeah I heard you why wouldn't I have."

Looking at her with a smile making sure she was really looking I spoke to her in my head and said, "because I never opened my mouth."

Kierra gasped and spoke to me with her mind and said, "Can you hear me to?"

"Yeah I hear you loud and clear," I said now out loud. The whole table had gone quiet.

"What the heck are you two talking about?" Dillon asked breaking the silence.

"Oh nothing really," Kierra started saying in her head you tell them.

"We only cam talk to each other with our minds," I said and everyone started talking over each other.

Mira finally quieted everyone and told us how no merperson had ever been able to do that. It wasn't in any of the stories they had ever been told. I thought to Kierra, "Well then this is awesome we just get all the cool powers but I wonder if we can talk to other people."

"Hold that thought," Kierra said in my mind.

Me and Kierra waited and waited thinking it must not work. Then suddenly Char burst into the room. "How in the world do I keep hearing you in my head Kierra!?" He yelled staring at her like he was losing his mind.

"It works!" she yelled back.

""What works?" Char asked again. "I swear if this is some sort of trick!" he started. Then gasped I looked at Kierra but whatever she said to him must have embarrassed Char cause his whole face turned red.

I sighed and said, "we can talk to people with our minds I used to read fairy tales about werewolves that could link between and pack so I guess it be like that. Only it just me and Kierra that can do it. Though I do wonder if you can link back to us." I looked at Dillon and linked, "Try saying something back to me." Dillons whole face scrunched up but nothing happened. Then I linked, "Pretend your talking to me but don't say it out loud just think it but think it torwards me."

"I think you've lost your pretty little mind. You and your sister my be able to link but I'm glad we can't. I don't think I could hide the fact that I like you if you could hear my thoughts." Dillon linked after looking away.

"You what?!" I yelled out loud without thinking. I know he linked it and didn't mean to but I couldn't think straight. Unknowingly linking him by accident, "how could you like me when you were so mean to me?"

He looked back at me and I could see the pain in his eyes and realized I linked him back. Kierra looked at us and so, "Well guys I can tell it worked but what the heck did you say to her she's sending me a hundred different emotions and it's making me feel sick."

I'm sure my face was burning red. I didn't even think I just shot up and out of a window. I was now outside the palace trying to catch my breath. But I could hear yelling and knew they'd follow me so I just shot out torwards the town. Swimming over the rock wall and shooting into the street of the town I hid. I don't know why it bothered me the way it did but I just need to breathe and I couldn't breathe with them down my throat. So I hid.
