The Hidden Diary

When I finally made it home the house was completely quiet. I made my way slowly through the kitchen making sure not to drop any of the food. There used to be maids now it was just me. Lisa had convinced my dad that as a house wife she should be in charge of chores. She'd get help from maids from time to time especially when my dad was home. But for the most part all the work was left to me. My step mother rarely lifted a finger unless it was to spend my dad's money. I made her plate first knowing she'd be in the dining room waiting. When I walked in you could have cut the tension in the room. Dillon pretended I wasn't there. Felicity was smiling evilly from ear to ear knowing I was in deep trouble. Lisa however just stared at me coldly her blue eyes could freeze you I swear. I put her plate down then went and set up Dillons then Felicitys and then finally my own. I sat down and as soon as I was seated Lisa started in, "it's nice of you to finally join us, isn't it children?" Both Dillon and Felicity nodded. Then she continued, "I've been pondering what kind of punishment I should give you thanks to Felicity I have the perfect one. Though I don't think it's enough so I have three punishments you know what they say third time's the charm and all." I didn't say anything I just glared and gritted my teeth one of these days she'll get caught and it won't be my fault. "First as I'm sure you know your phone hand it over," she said nonchalantly like breaking my things wasn't a big deal. I handed it to her and she quickly grabbed and threw it across the room. "you can replace that tomorrow and I'm sure your dad will think you dropped it again, right?" she asked waiting for me to answer. "Yes ma'am." I said through gritted teeth. "Good, good now secondly I believe you mother had some old jewelry and dresses left in the attic correct?" I nodded not knowing where she was going with this "Very good I'll be taking three pieces of jewelry and three dresses and since you brought me my favorite dinner I'll let you pick the items clean and send them out for me." I gasped she knew I didn't want to be anywhere near my mom's things. It wasn't that I hated her but the thought of a mother abandoning her daughter didn't sit right with me either. Her things always made me hate myself. What could be wrong with me that my own mom didn't want me? Why wasn't I enough? I shook my head to clear the thought and she tapped her fingers thinking I was telling her no. "sorry ma'am I'll do it I wasn't shaking my head no. It's just a nervous tick." Lisa smiled knowingly. "Alright well the third and final punishment is actually half a reward," she smirked proud of herself and Felicity raised her head a little higher reminding me that this was the punishment she had picked out. "Felicity brought it to my attention that the graduation ceremony for your school will be held at the beach. I know how you "love" the beach," she said drawing out the word love. "Felicity and her friends are gonna need help getting there you know as your dad hasn't got Felicity her own car yet after the incident with the pole." I giggled and she glared. After passing her driver's exam Felicity had run into a pole in her mom's car making dad weary of whether she deserved a car. "Anyways your brother can only take so many people and your reward of course is getting to go to your brothers graduation ceremony." There was finality in the way she said it. I hadn't even let it sink in still thinking about Felicity running into the pole. Then it hit me again Felicity made this plan and it was at the beach. I don't know what she has up her sleeve but I know it isn't good. Knowing I can't get out of it I lose my appetite. I quickly excuse myself and head to my room. It's a long time before I fall asleep but when I finally do I dream of being a mermaid and swimming across the ocean to far away worlds. Some how my peaceful dream turned dark suddenly I was being pulled through the water. My lungs were burning from me trying and failing to hold my breath and I was about to black out from the lack of oxygen. I was frantically trying to swim even though I didn't know how. Then suddenly I was jumping awake and falling out of my bed. I was covered in sweat and knew there was no way I was going to go back to bed. Checking the time it was only six in the morning but since I was up I might as well make the most of it. I got up out of my bed my room was smaller than my old room but being rich had it's advantages. Even though Dillon had taken over my old room, my new room still had a walk in closet and my own bathroom. I walked to my closet and picked out an old pair of jeans and a t-shirt to change into seeing as I was going to have to clean the attic today before heading to my bathroom. I turned the water on as hot as it could go without burning me before hopping in. It wasn't long before I was clean as I could be and wrinkled as well. I sighed taking my time getting out of the shower before brushing and throwing my green hair up into a messy bun the brushing my teeth. I threw my clothes on quickly and my hair was still dripping as I made my way to the kitchen. Figuring that by the time I'd get everything cooked everyone else would be waking up I started fixing a simple breakfast. Making two eggs each some toast and enough bacon to feed and army as well as squeezing some oranges to whip up some orange juice. As I was making the plates I heard movement in the dining room. Following the same pattern as yesterday I took Lisa hers, then Dillons, then Felicity. Finally bringing my own plate out and taking a seat. Lisa nodded and we began to eat in silence this morning. Seeing as I barely touched my food from last night I devoured my food before heading to the kitchen. Luckily the maid was in and she happily took the dishes and washed them for me. Since I didn't have to wash dishes I reluctantly made my way up stairs till I reached the third floor door. The old wooden door didn't match the newness of everything else in our giant new house. I suppose it was never replaced considering it only lead to the attic. Slowly I opened the door and I could smell the sea water. It was weird my mother always smelled as if she had just come from the beach. I tried to hurry opening a random box full of my mothers things. Unfortunately the first box was full of pictures. Seeing the pictures of me and my mom and dad made me whimper without realizing it. I missed those day, I missed my dad being home, and most importantly I missed my mom. I started going through the box of pictures. Looking through them made me feel like I was broken in two but for whatever reason I couldn't stop. As I got half way through the boxes I noticed and old leather book. It looked like a journal or a diary of some sort. I flipped it open and began reading my mother's hand writing realizing it was the old story she used to tell me. I stuck the diary to the side and began putting the pictures back into the box. Soon I had found three pieces of jewelry I didn't ever remember my mom ever wearing and three dresses that must have been for Halloween balls or something. They looked like dresses fit for a princess. grabbing them up and taking my moms diary with me I brought everything down. I put the diary in my room and went savaging in the garage for a box to carry everything else in. Once I found a box and put all my mom's old things together I was off to get a new phone. As soon as the guy in the phone store was done setting up my phone I noticed I had messaged from my dad and the girls. I quickly sent messages to all of them explaining how I had ruined yet another phone before puting the closet jewelry store into my gps. It took me nearly the rest of the day talking to the jewelry store and dry cleaners to ensure everything would be ready for my step mother. Luckily Lisa had asked the maid to stay to make dinner and she had saved me some. I didn't bother eating it in the dining room I just grabbed it and took it to my room where I found the forgotten diary still sitting on my bed. I flipped through it reading the story I knew by heart. I never knew my mother was the one to write the story. It made me miss her all the more. Not thinking I flipped the page and realized there was more. She had made wrote in this book for more than just the story apparently. I read it a bit confused, Day one in the world of the humans. Thanks to the treasure me and Liam brought with us we were able to buy a very large house not to far from the ocean. The man Liam was sent to got all of our paper work figured out and said where we are located would be a good place to bring up Sierra. I am already missing my beloved Mitch and our other daughter Kierra. I don't know how long I can go being torn apart like this. Mitch is hunting the evil sea with Kayla as we speak but there is no telling just how long it'll be before he catches her. Until then me and Liam will do our best to protect Sierra while Mitch protects Kierra. Reading along I realized it must just be a part of her story it was just weird that she had used my dad's and my name in her book. Maybe as a way of including us I don't know. Whatever the reason I didn't have it in me to continue reading I took my plate back down stairs and came back up starting a bath. I needed to soak the last few days off of me. Maybe then I could sleep without nightmares and stop feeling so depressed. After soaking in the tub until the water was so cold my teeth were chattering I bundled myself in my warmest pjs and covered myself with an extra blanket. Completely exhausted from not sleeping long enough and the day I had I fell straight to sleep. The mermaid dream coming right back to me only this time I was looking at a girl who looked just like me. She was also a mermaid and had my natural light brown hair only it was very, very long reaching past her mermaid tail. I looked at her amazed while she looked at me unsurprised. We circled each other a few times and then she began to sing. It wasn't really words more of a tune and as she sang I watched as the water around us began to move. I had never seen anything like it, it was truly amazing. Then suddenly I was back at the beach being thrown in the ocean by someone I couldn't see. The ocean quickly began to drag me underwater and I was drowning. I opened my mouth to scream and I jolted out of bed. Dillon burst through my door unexpectedly holding a bat. "Please tell me I didn't just come in here cause you had a bad dream?" he said aggravated till he seen the cold chills and how shaken I was. "Look sorry I was joking Sierra are you okay?" I nodded despite the fact that I felt anything but okay and to my surprise Dillon came over wrapped me in the cover and said "come on the maid made some cookies and I can get you some milk." That was the last thing I heard before everything went black.
