Finding my mate

“Flight passengers, we are now landing in JFK international airport. Welcome to America.” A voice said. America. I was excited. I had lived in Romania all my life, coming down to America had been a distant dream. The place of dreams as it was called. I got off the plane with other passengers and everything fascinated me. The air felt different, everything felt different. I got my duffel bag and left the airport and then it dawned on me I had absolutely no Idea where I was going to. I saw a number for cans and I made my pick and walked up to it. “Hello.” I said. It was a dark skinned man with very long dreadlocks and he smelt of smoke. “Hullo.” He answered sounding so funny. “Uhmm please.” I said as I reached for my bag and fished through its contents where I brought out the address to where my Alpha mate was supposed to live. “Do you know this address?” I asked him as I handed it to him. He collected it and read through. “Yup. I know the place. It’s downtown in Wall Street. Ain’t ya a big undressed for Wall Street?” He asked me. I looked at him puzzled and then he shrugged it off. “Just hop in.” He said. “Thank you.” I said excitedly and got in the back. And he drove. As he drove through the streets I looked at New York in awe. Everything seemed so different and just like the videos and pictures I had seen on the internet. “Where is this please?” I asked the driver. “Times square.” He said . “Times Square.” I repeated to myself. I was so captivated with the number of people going to and fro. The large billboards that showed advertisements and billboards. “You’ve never been to New York huh?” He asked me. “Yes, this is my first time in America.” I said without taking my eyes off the roads. “First time in America?!” He said surprised. “That’s crazy. If you were free I would have taken you to see some places.” “You can do that?” I said my eyes widening. “Sure why not?” He asked me. “If you aren’t in quite a big hurry to go to Wall Street, then I could make a long ride through central and fifth avenue. Just so you can see the place.” I thought about it. I looked at the time and saw that it was just nine fifty six. I still had time. What was the rush? Moreover this was America! “No,” I shook my head. “I’m not in a hurry.” “Well it’s going to cost you extra.” He said. “I don’t mind.” I said. Then he drove off and through to his words we went through a place called Central Park. It was green and filled with animals and children, then we went down fifth avenue and as he drove, he pointed out the places to me and I was completely in awe. My hometown in Romania was beautiful, but this was entirely different. Maybe it was also because I had never been out of our city. And then he came to a halt. “This is Wall Street and that building right there is Heaven companies.” He told me. I looked at the time. It was one fifty two. “Thank you very much.” I said. I took off my Diamond necklace and handed it to him. He looked at me like I was crazy. “Girl these are real diamonds!” He said. “I know. They were a gift from my betrothed. And now they are payment.” I informed. “I can’t take this.” He said. “My pay isn’t this. I would be cheating you.” “Oh you have to.” I insisted. “You are not cheating me. If you don’t see it as payment, see it as a gift. You’ve taken your time to make me happy and I very much appreciate that.” He looked at the diamonds for a very long time uncertain. “You have no idea what you’ve done for me.” He said. “Thank you.” I nodded and then I grabbed my bag and stepped out of the car. “Wait, let me give you my contact card at least.” He said and handed me his card. “If you ever need anything just call me.” I smiled and collected it. “Of course.” As I left, I heard him on a phone call. “Mama! You ain’t hon belobe what happened to me! We Rich mama! We rich! Yeah Eva can go to hell with her new boyfriend!” I turned and went on my way and just as I was walking towards the building I ran right into someone. He had come absolutely from nowhere and my bag fell and because I had it zipped it properly, the contents spilled out. I almost went senile. “Will you not look the way you are going?” I yelled at whoever it was. Right in my very before was the most attractive yet scariest man I had ever seen. I could sense that he carried himself with the biggest ego. In a suit and his dark hair styled neatly, he didn’t even smile or seem apologetic. His face just remained like stone. “Are you not going to apologize?” I demanded of him. “And who are you to ask such?” A nosy lady in a very tight suit and short office skirt asked me. “I didn’t ask you for your opinion missus.” I snapped back, refusing to let myself be cowed by these people and I shot my eyes at him. The woman gasped. “You know? That’s simple morals.” I said. “Well it seems not everyone has it.” He just looked down at me and I was not going to deny it, he scared the life out of me. Terrified me in fact. But I stood my ground. All the while he hadn’t said anything. One of his men said. “Do you want us to handle her?”
