CHAPTER SEVENTEEN Lightning slashed through the steely sky with a rifle crack of thunder. It sent quivers through the damaged nerves in Georgie’s left hand as an eerie graphite added to the skyline. At just after 4.00pm, sunset shouldn’t be for another couple of hours, but a premature darkness had descended in the few minutes since she’d traded babysitting duties for standing outside.
