Epilogue
Blaise:
I was sitting in the living room of the den when Blythe came down the stairs breathing heavily and holding her large round belly! "I think it's time!" She said in between breaths. I jumped up caught off guard. She still had 4 weeks left and I wasn't expecting the baby to be here this soon. The pack midwife had said it would be 4 more weeks. My wolf whined but I ignored him and went to my wife. "Come on baby, let's get you to the birthing room and I'll call the midwife." I calmly told her. Even though I was so nervous I didnt know what I was doing I in no way wanted to upset her. I picked Blythe up gently and carried her to the room we had set up for the birth of our first child. I sat her down onto the big bed as I went to run start the jacuzzi. After filling it and turning on the jets that would soothe her back during contractions I went back to her. "Let's get you undressed." I told her softly. She smiled up at me and stood up. Suddenly my foot was coated in water. I looked down and back up at her. "I think we should call the midwife." Blytge looked alarmed. "It's okay babe, I'll call her as soon as we get you in the water." I informed her. She nodded her head and let me undress her. I then picked her up and carried her to the jacuzzi slowly lowering her into the warm water.
An hour later and the midwife arrived. She went to work right away after she pulled up her long grayish brown hair. "Blaise I need the towels we stored in the closet." She informed me. I nodded my head and headed for the closet. I could hear Blythe moaning behind me. It broke my heart that she was in so much pain, but we had opted for a natural birth, and to not know the gender of our baby. I would have done anything she wanted, I just wanted her to be happy.
What seemed like no time later but was actually 4 hours Blythe was in full on labor. I sat behind her on the bed rubbing her back as the contractions came one after another. "Okay Blythe I'm gonna need to check you again." The midwife informed her. She nodded her sweaty head and scooted down on the bed spreading her legs to give the midwife access. Soon the midwife looked up at us, "It's time!" She informed us. "You are dilated 10 & 100% effaced. " "Thank God!" Blythe cried.
We prepared for the delivery and played out all the supplies that would be needed once the baby was out. Finally it was time to push. I helped to support her legs as we counted 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10, through the contraction. We could see a small round head each time she pushed. My beautiful son was born 10 minutes later. His cry filled my heart with more love than I ever though possible. The midwife handed him to his mama. When he laid there on Blythes chest his big eyes and chubby cheeks, I had never felt moreperfect, more wonderful, more everything. All possible emotions flooded through me, but it was bittersweet because my wife was soon in terrible pain once more. "It is probably just the placenta. Blaise take your son." She said and I reach for the tiny baby and took him in my arms. I looked down at him and my heart felt like it would burst. He was perfect. He had a head full of black hair, and big blue green eyes, and beautiful fair skin. He was the mist beautiful baby in the world. "We have another one." The midwife broke through my thoughts. "What?" Bkyrge gasped. "We have another baby, now push!" She demanded and my wife did. I quickly put the baby down in the bassinet and went to assist my wife. What did she mean another one. Twins had not be born to a shapeshifter family ever, it was just unheard of, and from the look on the midwife face as she raised a beautiful little girl up to meet her mom and dad , she knew this as well." Noone could know until we figured out what this meant for ourpack, our species, and most importantly, my family.
