Leon stopped at a motel on the edge of the town where he and Sling Shot had bought food when they were camped out the first night. He rented two rooms, each with two double beds. One room was for the girls and one was for him and Sling Shot. They went to the same fast food place to eat before going to their rooms to sleep.
“Where are we headed, Dazzler?” asked Sling Shot as they lay down to rest.
“My name is Leon Black Feather,” said Leon. “What is your name?”
“My name is Hugh Haynes,” said Sling Shot.
“Well, Hugh, since Morris made me responsible for you, I guess you will have to come to the reservation with me. Do you know anything about horses?”
“Yes, I worked on a ranch in Texas for awhile. I liked working there, but the owner went bankrupt, and I had to move on,”
