Yvette and I are still tending to the injured guard when I get Tristan’s message by mind-link. I think we’ve got him. I’m going down to the dungeon now. Will you meet me there?
What does he mean he thinks they have him? It seems I’ve missed something, and although the thought of that dungeon sends a shiver through me, I can’t refuse. There are questions we need answered, so I tell Yvette that I am going and begin to stand up, but she reaches out to grab my arm before I can leave.
“Be careful with him, Raya. I wanted to get close enough to look at his eyes, and kissing him seemed the quickest way to do that, but even up close, I couldn’t see anything strange about them. Is it possible the creatures are adapting?”
I hope not, but we have to consider all possibilities. Anot
