It's been a week since Elena started her new job, and it had been more nerve-wracking than she had thought it would be. She had to face Mr. Arrogant and some of his staff's attitudes. Only two of her newly made friends, Martha and Miguel, gave her a reason to want to come back to work the next day.
She was seated in her chair when she was asked to see the CEO. Her heart stopped beating for a moment as she tried to recollect herself. After the encounter with him in the boardroom, she hadn't faced him head-on since then, but now he had asked to see her alone.
She made her way into the elevator, and when she got to the floor, she dragged her feet sluggishly until she reached the front of his office door. His name was written in gold letters, embedded on the door.
She knocked, and a voice answered from the inside, asking her to enter. She slowly walked in and stopped a safe distance from his mahogany office desk. He looked up from the document he was accessing and signaled her to come closer with his fingers. She loosened up a little and proceeded to sit down.
Zach raised a brow and stared at her dangerously. "Sorry," she quickly issued out, standing from the chair and dusting it off with her hand.
"I saw your designs..." he was saying. "Elena," Elena cut in, thinking he was trying to remember her name.
He stopped talking and looked at her with a straight face. "Summer outfits collection," he completed his initial statement, and Elena bowed her head in embarrassment.
"You know what, 'Elena'," he started, emphasizing her name, "You should know when to use your tongue and when to bite it," he said, standing up and going over to her side. Elena stepped back a bit, but she was stopped by the table behind her. Zach got her cornered and leaned in close to her face. His breath fanned her face softly, and her breath hitched. He would constantly look at her eyes and then her lips; she did the same. Elena felt the temperature of the room increase.
Zach used his thumb to caress her pink lips, and he leaned in more closely. Elena shut her eyes, awaiting the kiss. In all the movies she had watched, that was what came next; she awaited hers.
She pouted her lips and expected another pair to touch them, but suddenly his warmth felt distant. When she opened her eyes, he was already back in his seat. He looked at her with amusement dancing on his face, and Elena realized he had played her. She was beyond embarrassed.
"Your designs are not up to par. They won't get us anywhere in the next fashion exhibit," he said coldly before tossing her the file. She grabbed it and decided to ask, "Which of them?"
"All of them," he said in a straight tone and looked at her with an expression that wanted her gone. Tears stung her eyes, and she turned around to head towards the exit when a lady in a tight red dress burst through the door with a grim look on her face.
She went straight to Zach's table and ordered Elena without even looking at her, "Get back here!"
Elena stared in uncertainty. She was unsure if she was talking to her, but then again, she was the only less important person in the room who was on her way out. The lady finally looked her way and glared at her.
"Yes, you. Get back here," she said, and Elena obeyed. The lady went over to Zach and roughly connected her lips with his, kissing him hungrily. The CEO was also taken aback, but he did nothing to stop her. Her kiss lasted for almost an eternity before she decided to stop.
"I give every new peasant a little introduction so that they know not to accidentally step into my territory," she said, grabbing the glass of water on the table. Then she walked over to Elena with a smirk.
"I don't accept apologies. If you choose to become my enemy, then game on," she said and tipped the glass cup over Elena's head, emptying the contents all over her. Elena gasped in surprise and looked at Zach for any interference, but he only sat in his chair with a blank look. A tear slipped out of her eye.
"I, Rachel, said so. Get out!"
Elena wasted no time in leaving the office. She had had enough humiliation for one day. Rachel has always been a popular topic among the office staff, who spend most of their time gossiping. Little did she know, she was a demon.
