Waiting for our Foster parents to leave for so called "work" was torture. We had four hours to wait so Sam and I went to our room to pack our stuff in our backpacks and the duffle bags I bought at Rick's sporting goods store. We used the maps app on Sam's phone to map out our trip to Blackwater. We also decided because it's a two and a half hour drive we should probably stop to eat before we get to the camp grounds. "Hey Sam, there is a taco Bell along the way we can stop there for dinner!" Bre said to try and make this trip alittle easier on Sam. Sam smiled and hugged her best friend.
The alarm on my phone rang when it was 7:00 pm. That signaled for operation get away. We gathered our bags and took one last look at our room before heading down stairs to the back door. We stopped in the kitchen to grab as much food as one duffle bag could hold. On our walk to our fort neither one of us spoke. It was a very emotional walk. Sad we were leaving our home where there was good and bad memories but at the same time happy to be away from the torture and abuse.
Once we got to the fort we packed everything into the beast "that's what I decided to call her". We got settled into our seats, buckled up, on our way in less then 30 minutes. As I pulled out of the woods and on to black top I ask Sam to find some tunes on the radio. She found an old country station and bless the broken road by " Rascal Flatts" was playing so she turned it up and said Good vibes! It took and hour and a half to get to Taco bell. We walked in and went to the restroom first. Sam goes into the bathroom first then ordered our food to go so we could set up camp sooner.
We got to the camp grounds and paid for a week in advance for a spot that had electric hookups. Which would make finding our parents that much easier. We unloaded the car and started setting up camp. We had our tent set up in no time. We set it up right under a big oak tree by the creek that had clear water running through it. About 10 feet away from the tent we set up our fire pit and got that going. We were so exhausted from the travel that we decided to go to bed and finish first thing in the morning. Operation get out was a success I say to Sam as we huncker down for the night.
"Bre... Bre... Wake up Bre!" Sam was shaking me awake. I woke up startled and said what do you want to Sam. Sam said "something's out there messing with our stuff." I said "seriously, it's probably a raccoon or something." Then I heard a loud howl coming from outside the tent. We both grab a hold of each other saying "that's not a raccoon" at the same time. Sam then said "do something!" So I do the only thing I can think of and get up run out of the tent screaming and becoming kong Fu Bre. But once I got out side and noticed nothing was out there I started laughing so hard I almost pissed my self.
