A bright light slowly caused Alyssa to open her eyes, and as she did so realized that sunlight was pouring into the room that she found herself in. Despite being very groggy she sat up and noticed that she was in her underclothes in a bed in a small bedroom. Her would was bandaged, and as she looked beneath her skill was fully healed and there was no pain. Removing her bandages she stood to her feet and glanced out the window, but all she could see were clusters of roofs, smokestacks, and laundry flapping in the breeze.
She gathered her clothes, which had been cleaned and neatly folded, and put them on and collected her satchel and slowly opened the door and peered down the empty staircase. Not seeing any signs of danger, she descended the stairs, and as she got closer to the lower level
