Chapter 16: Beyond The Facade Part 5

Around 11 a.m., the staff announced today's schedule in the group. I looked at the schedule, which only included a few activities: lunch, a break/free time, a tour of the accommodation, which would also include a briefing, and finally, dinner. There weren't many activities, meaning the actors had more free time today. I then scrolled down to see tomorrow's schedule. It turned out to be quite busy, starting early in the morning. At 6 a.m., there was a morning workout, with several options, such as jogging or going to the gym, where it is also located at the accommodation. Then, at 7:30, breakfast and preparation were scheduled until 8:30, as the actors were to gather in the meeting room at 8:30 to begin script readings and character development for the next day's shoot. The character readings would pause for a short break around 12 p.m. for a break and lunch before resuming at 1 p.m. At 4 p.m., there would be a fitting for the outfits they would wear during filming, which would last until dinner. After dinner, there was another script reading, which lasted until 9 p.m.

I sighed. I knew being an actor would be busy, and I understood that. Before I entered the world of acting, I was used to a busy schedule. So, physically, I was already used to it, but seeing the amount of time spent on script readings made me sigh. Even before we arrived at the inn, there had been script readings, character development, and acting classes, so I thought maybe we could start filming right away. But it turns out there were still more script readings.

At lunchtime, Rayan and I left our room to go to the inn's restaurant. It was quite far from Rayan's and mine room, so we walked side by side. As we walked, Rayan and I talked about what we would do today and tomorrow. Several actors and staff members were also starting to come out of their rooms and were walking in the same direction as us. We greeted them and chatted casually.

Ethan had just come out of his room with Harry, a guitarist who was also new to acting like me. Seeing them leave their room together, I could conclude that they were roommates during filming. Ethan himself is quite a veteran in the acting world, like Rayan, who has previously appeared in several dramas, series, and even films. However, Ethan may not be as well-known as Rayan. Rayan was quite famous back then, and this series itself used Rayan's name extensively to attract investors and industry insiders to join the series. More than one or two actors stated that they wanted to join the series because Rayan was the lead actor. Furthermore, most of the investors who wanted to join were aware of Rayan's role. In fact, Rayan personally helped convince them to join.

Rayan used to be with a large agency with its own national television channel. He was a regular in their series and dramas, and even briefly appeared on the big screen. However, for some unknown reason, he suddenly disappeared, only to reappear after a while and join this series.

As for Ethan himself, although quite a veteran in the acting world, he came from a small agency and mostly played supporting roles, so his screen time was limited. Although he already had a fairly solid fan base, his name wasn't as big and didn't have as much influence as Rayan. However, Ethan was used to acting and was quite respected for his good acting.

"Rayan, I heard you were pretty drunk from yesterday?" Ethan stepped beside Rayan and me, putting his arm around Harry's shoulder.

"Ah yes, I was pretty drunk. I felt like my head was going to explode, haha," Rayan replied with a laugh.

"But you're okay now, right? Everyone else was pretty drunk yesterday, too. I was like a delivery guy, driving everyone here and there, making sure everyone got home safely. Although there were exceptions, like you, who had someone else to take care of them," Ethan said as if joking, ending with a teasing glance at Rayan.

"You must be really tired. You should have told me so I could have helped," I said to Ethan with a smile to hide my awkwardness.

"No, no, I was just kidding. I was just dropping off a few friends yesterday. The others were sober enough to call a taxi themselves." Ethan let go of Harry's hand and waved.

"Haha, but I didn't know you were such a drinker," I said after laughing.

"Yeah, you too. At our age, who can't drink, haha, especially in this industry. Like in the business world, we often have to drink with clients, we unconsciously become more used to drinking, right?" Ethan put his arm around me.

I completely understood Ethan's words. Even though he'd been an actor for a long time, we all know that actors aren't paid much, especially someone like Ethan, who came from a small agency and only played supporting roles in series or light dramas. Ethan does have his own business, which he's been involved in for a long time, which provides his main source of income. So, Ethan and I both know that in the business world, we often entertain clients by bringing them drinks, and we've become accustomed to drinking, so we don't get drunk easily.

"After lunch, we'll explore the accommodation area. Get ready to strengthen your legs," said Ethan, then laughed.

I noticed that the inn was quite spacious, and it had been rented for filming purposes. I knew it was rented to save money, as it was in one location with enough space for various shooting subjects.

The inn had a large road that looked like a highway, and several buildings that fit the series' theme. I'm sure the producers wanted to tighten their belts by using one place for both filming and accommodation for the actors and staff. Transportation wouldn't be expensive, either. Changing scenes was as simple as moving to another room.
