Chapter Sixteen For a small island hospital, the emergency room was busy. It seemed accidents and emergencies happened here, too. Billy Jo took in the blue curtains of her exam room, hearing a man snoring softly from the one beside her. The old doctor putting in stitches at her hairline was wearing reading glasses, which didn’t give her the confidence in his skill she’d have preferred.
