THE PROPOSAL

CHAPTER TWO

Did you see how handsome he looks, I can't believe my James would turn out to be this stunning" Lily lamented to her best friend as soon as they arrived home

"I know we were meant to be together, see how destiny has brought us together again" she went on throwing herself on her big cozy bed with so much smiles...

"Girl, you've got to take it easy, you just saw him, it was a mere coincidence, that guy could be married or engaged, don't get your hopes high" Jayne adviced as she sat on the couch in Lily's room staring at her friend that was caressing the tips of her hair with smiles like a teenager who was in love.....

"Jayne, why are you always pessimistic about stuffs, James has always been my lover though we were too young to admit it, I believe now we're all grown up things will walk out, Amma go tell MoM and Dad I've found a man,"Lily responded refusing to let in any thoughts contrary to what she wants.

"I understand you perfectly, but did you also notice the lady that was with him and how he was quick to dismiss you to attend to her, all I'm saying is just take it easy, I know how much you loved James and still do, but you're gonna be calm and let things fall into place,"Jayne furthered explained she had now stood up from the couch and sat next to Lily on her bed as she Crossed her arms over her shoulders....but Lily was a stubborn breed , she had gotten used to things done her way and this one was not going to be an exception... because of this attitudes her five years relationship ended and the last one which lasted just a year ended as well....she was so authoritative, controlling and demanding, she had no respect for other people's opinions or feelings and this has cost her all her beautiful relationships, which she cared less about.

"I think you have a point, I'm gonna make enquires about him, but I've gotta tell my parents, we have a wedding to plan girl" Lily screamed as she ran downstairs to break the news to her parents that she had found her long lost lover and was ready to settle down.

" why was she all over you, I thought you said you had nothing with her" Sharon who had jealousy written all over her face confronted her fiance later that evening when they were alone....

" She has always been all over me since childhood, on several occasions she had told me she had feelings for me and wanted us to be more than just friends, I had told her repeatedly that the feeling wasn't mutual, we can't be together but she would always insist and said her love was enough, after the separation we never heard or spoke, it's been over 8years babe, I didn't expect she will still act that way again, but nothing to worry about, I've never loved her and I never will and besides I have a beautiful wife whom I love with everything in me, no need to be jealous ok" James explained as he hugged her and kissed her forehead....that brought a relief to Sharon.

As far as she was concerned, James was the only family she had right now outside her father and brother, they've been together for two years and it had been beautiful, there were both madly in love with each other and clearly inseperable, he had done alot for her and has proved that he truly loved her and she wasn't going to let all of that slide either, she reciprocated the love as well, they got engaged after two years and were planning their wedding when Sharon's dad fell ill and the wedding was suspended.

" Thanks babe, thanks for reassuring me, but I think that girl still has eyes on you, she still wants you, I could see it in her eyes, believe me" Sharon further explained.

"Babe, I really think you're over thinking things, Lily is the only child of the most richest man in this town, she would have nothing to do with someone of my class, I'm sure they are other suitors who are of her class coming for her , I greatly doubt this, let's stop this talk about Lily, this time is for you and I, okay, and stop troubling your pretty self" James was able to calm down his fiancees nervousness and curiosity that day, what the both didn't know was that there were in for so much more......

The Sun was harsh on this day, it was as though the earth had a fight with the sky and the sky decided to send down the hottest of its kind,

It was a very hot Saturday afternoon, Sharon had just completed her house chores and was about to take her bath when she noticed a very expensive looking car drive into her small compound.....as she looked through the window, she wandered who had come to see her and why..

there was a gentle knock on the door,

Sharon who still had her towel tied round about her chest, still confused if this people didn't miss their way ..she opened the door and saw two girls standing there right before her face and a man who was obviously their driver, stood far behind leaning on the big car....

there weren't just girl, Sharon recognized them, there were the girls at the hospital the previous week, one of which was Lily, her fiance's old time friend

"Good morning, please we came to see you" It was Jayne that spoke, Lily just stared disgustingly at the whole environment this really got Sharon mad but she had to keep her cool.

"Good morning, I'm sorry, I don't think I know you, why do you want see me?" Sharon asked still standing on the door obviously blocking their entrance.

"please can you let us in, it's really important we talk" Jayne pleaded further while Lily stared blankly still very irritated.

Sharon urshered them in.

"What!!!, Sharon screamed, I should leave my fiance for money, do you realize I'm engaged and about to be married, what sort of a stupid proposal is this" Sharon fired at the two girls who sat looking at her in the face

"Relax girl, we understand that you have the right to be mad and shout, but 30million naira is so much money, it would do allot for you, just take out time think about it" Jayne tried to appeal

"what stupid money, my love for James cannot be bought even with all the money in the world, what we share is special and I do not intend trading it for anything in this world, do you hear me, and there's nothing you can do to separate us, goshhh!!" Sharon fired back angrily

Lily had now lost her patient

"I've loved James all my life and I'm certain I love him more than you do, since you aren't sensible enough, I'll take him from you and leave you with nothing, not the cash and not James, I promise you this" Lily bursted despite all of Jayne's effort to keep her cool

"Are you stupid, you come to my house to threaten me, I dare you to do your worst, I'm not leaving my man, and now you both have over stayed your welcome, get out of my house" Sharon fired

Lily laughed loudly" you call this a house,? this thing where refuge are kept is what you call a home, I'll take James and give him a better life something he deserves, something you cannot do for him in your poor miserable life, I'll leave , but trust me this is just getting started , watch me" with this words Lily stormed out of the house angrily with Jayne running after her to calm her down, they both entered the car and drove out.

"can you imagine, what arrogance, I'm not leaving my man for anything or anyone*" Sharon said to herself angrily as she stormed Into the bathroom.
