With the stuff I’ve gathered in the back of Edwards’ car, I have the core of an operating theory, rooted in the progressive deterioration of Edwards’ relationship with his daughter, who’s lived under her grandmother’s spell. It was clear in my conversation with Emma that Faith Wesley administered a daily poisoning, waging a limited ground war against Emma’s father. Lent’s divorce from Linda Wesley happened years ago, but PAS is a progressive disease, and clearly Emma is in the middle to late stages of it. I call that motive.
As far as means and opportunity, Edwards has the military training and the strength to climb the wall, lie in wait, and garrote the old woman. From what I can see, he seems to have the disposition. He’s become the prime suspect.
