as i walked through the daycare gates the following morning, i saw sehun standing at the entrance of the staff room.
"good morning, imogen"
"yes, sehun?"
"a new student has been enrolled into your class this morning andd since the other kids are ahead in your lesson plan, i will be assisting you with his lessons"
i nodded a couple of times and began to remove my shoes which left me even shorter in my mismatched, multicolored socks. when i straightened up, i had to crane my neck to look up at sehun who was standing in front of my with a raised brow. i shrugged and began to walk to my class with sehun besides me. after sehun introduced the new student to the class and i, i began my lesson while sehun sat in the back whispering to the new student. after the kids had finished their recess and were in their korean lessons, i sat in the staff room making a list of groceries i needed to buy on the way home when i received a phone call.
"hello?"
"hello, is this ms imogen garcia?"
"yes, this is her. how may i help you?"
"ma'am, we have information regarding a new lead in the murder of your family."
i felt the air leave my body as i heard the door open.
"i'm so sorry, let my call you back in an hour, please."
i managed to choke out before hanging up the call. i stood so abruptly i would have gallen if it weren't for the pair of strong hands that held me to a warm chest.
"woah, slow down"
"i have to go"
"wait your list!"
sehun said as i pushed my way out the door. nearly 10 minutes later, i collapsed on the sofa in my apartment, not even crying, just staring into space with my hands in my hair, still shaken by the call from the u.s. government. how did it come to this? i asked myself for what seemed like and probably was the millionth time.
