I Don't Need You

--- *Chapter 9: I Don't Need You* The car was silent. Only the rain. Rayan turned the heater on. "You're soaked." "I don't care," I said. He gripped the steering wheel. His knuckles were white. "Alia, please. Talk to me." I stared out the window. The city lights were blurry through the rain. 8 weeks. His baby. And the man who called me "an option" 2 years ago and walked away. "Is it mine?" he asked again. Softer this time. Broken. I turned to him. No tears. Just fire. "Listen, Rayan," I said. My voice didn't shake. "Whether the baby is yours or not..." I paused. Watched his face crack. "I'll handle it alone." His face fell. "What?" "Queen Holdings is $2.1 Billion," I said calmly. "I have lawyers. Doctors. Money. A whole team." "I don't want your company. I don't want your name." "And most importantly..." I reached for the door handle. "I don't want you." His breath caught. "Alia, don't--" I opened the door. Cold air and rain hit my face. "I stepped out into the rain. No umbrella. No backup. No him. Behind me: "Alia!!" I didn't stop. The car door slammed. The engine revved. The car drove away. I stood there. Wet. Cold. Shaking. And for the first time in 2 years... completely free. The hospital lights were still on behind me. My phone buzzed in my jacket pocket. I took it out. Texted the doctor. `Book the appointment. Private.` My finger hovered over send. Then I deleted it. I looked up at the dark sky. Rain on my face felt like washing off 2 years of pain. Because Queens don't fall. Queens make decisions. And I just made mine. My heels clicked on the pavement. I didn't look back. This was the start of my new story. --- *End of Chapter 9*
