Chapter 1

1743 Words
It all started on a rather cold September morning as our heroes arrived at their new school. Amy, Kasumi, Maya, Nicki, Angel and that dumbass Joey entered Magic VS. Chaos Elementary School. Amy and Kasumi are 13 years old and the best of friends. Kasumi is the older sister of Maya and tends to get the group in some kind of trouble. It mostly has to do with how reckless her mouth is. Amy is the older sister of Nicki and usually acts as the mommy of the group. Angel and Joey are friends of Nicki and Maya. Those two are a special breed of children. Although it is not abundantly clear how and when they became a group.  No one would be surprised if they all met in detention. {Enough boring descriptions, get your popcorn ready} All six of them enter MVC Academy After dropping Maya and crew off in Kinder Academy they make the short walk to the middle school wing. They take their seats in room 510 C. Their teacher is a twenty-something black woman with blonde hair and hazel eyes. Today’s lesson is on the history of the Magic and Chaos Realms.  Kasumi groans and looks at Amy. Amy: Doesn’t she realize that we know this s**t already. I mean come on now. We are products of this f****d up war. Not only has it been going on for centuries it has claimed way too many lives.  Kasumi: You have a point there. I’m debating whether or not to take a nap because obviously this class is pointless. Blondie: Amy, Kasumi is there anything you want to share? If so please do. I am sure your peers want to be entertained as well.  Kasumi: Well since you so kindly asked---- Amy cuts her off Amy: Not the time sis! I don’t have bail money for ya’ reckless ass. She didn’t mean anything by her previous statement. We are sorry for disrupting the class We will be quite... Please continue. Kasumi: Okay, I can be quiet. Imma take a nap and ya’ll enjoy all the quietness. You won’t hear a peep out of me except for the occasional snoring cause this class right here is redundant and quite frankly boring as hell. Blondie: I am going to let this one slide. But do not get it twisted If I hear so much as a peep both of you will spend the rest of the year in Saturday detentions with the dean of students. Kasumi: Glad we came to an understanding.  Amy slaps her forehead.  Amy: You know what I’m done with you. She looks at Blondie. Amy: I agree to the terms. Blondie carries on with the lesson. About an hour or so later the bell rings. Amy slaps Kasumi in the back of her head. Kasumi: Owl!! What the hell was that for? Amy: Rise N’ shine sleeping demon. Class is over so bring ya ass. Kasumi gets up muttering something about Amy being the devil incarnate. The two of them leave class and head toward the quad.  The quad separates the elementary, middle, junior, and high school campuses. The cafeteria is in the center of the quad. Amy and Kasumi meet up with Nicki, Angel, and Joey. Amy: So guys how was class? I know you guys are still in the kinder academy and all.  Nicki:  This is too easy. These imbeciles do not know their heads from their bums. Most of them are booger eaters anyway. I do not see why we have to stay there. Kasumi: Its bureaucratic bullshit. The world doesn’t know how to handle the new generation of future leaders and or criminals, in our case. They are so used to kids being mindless drones that anyone with even a quarter of a brain is seen as insubordinate. Maya: Does that mean that adults see smart kids as a threat? Amy: Yes it does? Maya: Oh! Wait... how? Kasumi: So we just gonna’ not remember the chaos drain experiment that happened awhile back or how they made the MU virus stronger and tested it on pregnant women prisoners.  Maya: What’s the MU virus? Kasumi: The MU virus is a virus that causes the magic energy within a person to be unstable. This means that the person will not be able to control their energy flow to use magic. If a pregnant woman is infected with the virus it can also affect the growth and formation of the powerful energy of the fetus. Amy: Yeah but, still why would adults view kids as threats when they’re much older with more experience? Kasumi: Evolution. Amy: Point taken. Joey: All of this is making my head hurt. Angel: Aw it’s okay just put your head down. Kasumi: No wonder you got left back at the kinder academy.  Joey and Angel: Hey! Kasumi: What? Amy: Oh for the love of - don’t start. Kasumi: Start what? I didn’t do anything! Ami: Oh so we’re telling lies now! Angel: Kasumi, you know that was mean. Joey: Yeah... What pissed in your cereal and died? Kasumi: Your lack of intelligence. Amy (sighs.): Here we go! Joey: I see you’re running out of insults. These dumb jokes are getting old. Kasumi: They wouldn’t exist if you were smart. Joey: Or they wouldn’t exist if you didn’t act like you were on your period every day. Kasumi: You can’t even spell period. Joey: Do you prefer tampons or pads? Kasumi: You know what- {Angel interjects.} Angel: Now guys we can talk about this. Kasumi: Nah. Lucky for Joey, this ass-whooping he’s about to receive is on the house. Overhearing the situation a girl starts walking over to intervene. She also happens to be the lunch monitor. She is a caramel-skinned girl with short blue hair and green eyes. Lunch monitor: I’m afraid I can’t let that happen. Kasumi: Kiki this is not the time to be captain save a hoe. Joey, however, should be thanking you for the noble gesture. Kiki sighs.  Kiki: Actually ya’ll both should be thanking me because principal Skinner is about to come down and give a speech. I know you remember what happened last time. Kasumi suddenly has a flashback to the merciless ass-whooping her mother gave her.  Believe it or not, it wasn’t for fighting. That was normal. It was for all the collateral damage she did to school and some parts of the town. It was embarrassing to her mother, a queen, and a very powerful one at that. Kasumi: Fine the dumbass can live for now... {Principal Skinner and a young man enter the cafeteria. Principal Skinner was a plump old man. There was once a time where he enjoyed being principal and the children now, he just felt trapped and like throwing each one of the little buggers out the window. } ‘I’m too old for this s**t’ principal Skinner thought to himself. He finally made it to the podium.  Principal Skinner: Ahem is this thing on?  ( A brief pause as students quiet down) Anyway students I have enjoyed my time being your principal but, it’s time for me to step down. There was a little bit of cheering in the background but, it was quickly silenced by the teachers.  Principal Skinner: (sarcasm) Gee don’t get teary-eyed. It’s okay I won’t miss most of you little runts anyway. This is your new principal Mr. Adiar.  (Have fun with these little bastards.)  I’m out!  He drops the mic. Principal Skinner puts on his sunglasses and leaves with a quickness. Mr. Adiar picks the mic back up. Mr. Adiar: Hello students as you know I am your new principal. I hope we can make this a great year. Now I know you guys don’t really care about a super long speech so I’m going to let everyone go back to eating their lunch. Mr. Adiar is 6’5 and in good shape. He has striking dark brown eyes and a little bit of an accent that is keeping the female and some of the male teacher population rather intrigued. Angel: He’s cute. Joey: *scoffs* He’s not that great! Kasumi: He aiight. Amy: Yeah but, I don’t trust him. Something’s a little off.  The group seems to focus on Mr. Adair. Kasumi and Amy don’t seem to find anything blatantly obvious. Amy however could not shake the feeling that something was not quite right. Lunch passes with little to no more incidents. The group splits up to go to the third period. The third period was witchcraft and wizardry in the field. Amy and Kasumi head into class. The air was somewhat tense although neither girl is sure why. They take their seats. The teacher comes in and looks at the attendance sheet. Her eyes scan over the names and pause when she sees Kasumi and Amy. A knowing glint crosses her face.  Mrs. Webb: Let’s review the basics for fighting with and without powers. Kasumi since you seem to be an expert at this why don’t you help me demonstrate. Kasumi rolls her eyes and moves to the front of the room.  Mrs. Webb: Hand to Hand in close spaces.  Kasumi: Take your best shot! Amy does a half-hearted face-palm. Mrs.Webb sizes Kasumi up and aims for the center of her stomach. She moves easily to avoid it. Kasumi counters with a few upper body jabs. They spar back and forth for a few minutes.  {Kasumi and Amy please come to the principal's office at the conclusion of the third period.} The class breaks off into giggles.  Mrs. Webb: That’s enough class. Let’s focus. I am sure this little deliq---  Someone in class clears their throat effectively silencing the rest of the sentence. Eventually, the class breaks up into small groups to do the assignments that were demonstrated. Kasumi and Amy are partnered up.  Each girl takes shots and plays off of one another.
