The unsettling encounter

Emily quickened her pace, her heart beating slightly faster as she tried to put as much distance between herself and the stranger as possible. She didn't dare look back, fearing what she might see. Instead, she kept her eyes fixed on the path ahead, her senses on high alert for any sign of pursuit.

As she turned the corner onto her street, Emily felt a wave of relief wash over her. She was almost home. Just a few more feet and she'd be safe inside her apartment, away from the stranger's unsettling gaze.

But as she approached her building, Emily noticed something that made her blood run cold. The stranger was standing outside her apartment, his eyes fixed intently on the door. He was waiting for her.

Emily's mind racing, she tried to process what was happening. How had he gotten here so fast? And what did he want? She slowed to a stop, her heart pounding in her chest as she tried to decide what to do next.

Suddenly, the stranger looked up and caught her eye. Emily froze, her breath caught in her throat as he began to walk towards her. She felt a surge of adrenaline as she realized she had to act fast if she wanted to get away.
