CHAPTER 78
CORINNE
Blaze drives us home quietly after our not-so-called talk at the coffee shop.
I don’t know if I will be happy that somehow, he recognized what he was doing wrong inside our marriage. But at the same time but be mad at him even more because he wasn’t giving me much definite reason on why he’s doing what he’s doing.
But I also thought, all cheaters in a relationship don't need a reason to cheat on their partner. They just did.
So why do I feel desperate for Blaze's reason, why do I feel like I need a reason to understand what he's doing?
I was starting to get undressed on our bedroom when he closed the door, I still couldn't avoid having a reaction physically and mentally when I knew he was just around me.
“So, are you really going to pursue fine arts in Julliard’s?” he asked.
I barely turn around to face him, and tried shrugging him off “Yep, that’s the plan.”
I heard him took a long deep breath before talking again “I might want to get enrolled to Julliard’s too.”
He sounds like he was hesitating, but what he said made me instantly looked for him “What?”
It was new to me, that he wanted the college thing. The last time we spoke civilly, he doesn’t want anything to do with college nor pursue his career in NFL. Like he’s life is already written on the legacy of the Mayhems in La Cosa Nostra. Like he can’t go anywhere, but there.
“I think I want to study culinary arts.” He nods and sat down on our bedroom couch. Facing me.
“That’s—that’s good news.”
“Really?” he smiled brightly at me. “You think so?”
“I mean, I get to taste your cooking, and honestly, I loved it.”
He sighs "The restaurant we ate at just now in Downtown is mine."
“I—I don’t understand.”
“I established the restaurant on my own, wanting to try a different thing aside from the mafia.”
I gasped when the realization synced in “Oh My Gosh, I really love the food in there—”
Then I realized, I have been eating in that restaurant for some time now and honestly, I can say that it was my favorite restaurant here in New York. “You mean, you cooked the menu on that restaurant?”
He nods proudly and smile “I did.”
“Everything? Like even the red velvet?” I pressed.
He smiles when he realized what I am up to “Everything.”
“Oh My Gosh, now I can have that pastry for free and for life—” I stopped when I heard what I just said. I was getting so pump up in excitement and I didn’t care that we’re onto something right now.
“You want to go with me? I mean accompany me when I am going to enroll in Julliard’s?”
I nod “Sure, I’d loved to.”
