Song for this Chapter: Lose You To Love Me-Selena Gomez CHAPTER 44 CORINNE After I prepared myself for the day, I saw Blaze already leave the mansion with his car without looking back. What am I expecting though? He already helped me enough, and why does it seem like every small kindness he had shown me, my heart flutters not in the same way, it swells before. I watched as I see his car leaving the lot when someone nudged me, I turn around to see it was Diesel. Right, I forgot that he’s also living here. The Diesel that I didn’t know anymore. "Come with me to school." He offers. I wish I had taken my car with me when I left, maybe I can ask Carina to get me my car so I can use it. I hate being a nuisance to everyone. I nod “Sure, yeah.” We both hop in his car that is so familiar with me, this year’s there’s a lot that happened between me and Diesel’s relationship. Maybe this is the price I have to pay for crossing the boundary line between friends and lovers. I thought, what if we just stayed being friends and not to do something that might get us in this awkward situation? Maybe everything went well. He starts driving off his car, and hit the radio. “We’re going to get married this week—” I looked at him “—Carina and I.” I nod “Yeah, I heard about it.” I tried to smile, trying to give him my best genuine smile that I am gracing him for years, but I just can’t. He sighed "I'm going to get lost in the mansion, I only have seven days left with you--" I massage my temple, “Die, please. Let’s stop this. I thought we decide that whatever happen between us, it’s done.” He nods “I know—” He took a deep breath “—Just can’t believe that this is happening now. Uncle is hurrying with the process of merging our family, especially the Russian bratva is on the move. So, I had no choice--" “Die, please. I asked you for very one thing before you even set eyes on my sister. I asked you not to hurt her, that same goes with you looking at her just like she’s just a means to an end. She’s more than that.” He nods “Sorry—” “You know what, I just want to talk with you about something.” “What is it?” “You planning to take down Blaze, your cousin? And you have the courage to take sides and plot revenge against him along with Marcus, the person who abused me for several years, Die? Really?" I can’t even hide the poison in my tone. I am disappointed at him. The car suddenly stopped in a halt. “He told you?” “Off course he would tell me. Marcus Lewis is a f*****g backstabbing evil, he knows I am going to take him down for what he did to me, he used you to stopped me from doing so. And you even had a single thin trust on him after all what he did, Die?” I scoffed “I thought you were better than that—” “Just know that I did that because I loved you—” “So, it is my fault now?” I fire back sarcasm. “I didn’t say that you are, but the only thing that thought that night is when Blaze is gone, I will be next in line. And I can have you.” He looks at me with sadness in his eyes. “I don’t know you anymore, Die.” I wipe my own tears “—it’s like you changed.” “We’re supposed to, right?” I nod “Yeah, I just like the old you more.” I didn’t look at him anymore instead I just watch the fields flowing along with the winds on the side of my car. “If you can’t trust me anymore, I can’t blame you. But please, trust Blaze.” My head snap on his “What?” I didn’t expect that coming from him. “He can help you.” I scoffed bitterly “I guess it’s too late now, he can help me but I will hurt my friend in the process. And I would never do something that will cause such pain with my friends.” I know he knows that what I just said is directly to him. I let him soak up the reality and the heaviness of what he did to me. When I came inside my art classroom, a hand slapped me real hard that she caught me off guard. It’s Hannah. Fiery and Mad. “Hannah?” “Yeah, it is f*****g me.” She scoffed “What are your plans, Corinne?” “I don’t have plans.” “Liar. I know you, the air you breath, the nightmares you’re having, the tears on your eyes, I know everything. You wanted to take what is mine, right?” “Blaze’s just helping me out—” “Bullshit, f*****g leave us alone, Corinne. Just go back to the hell you came from." She was about to leave when I stopped her “What?” "I can't believe you could do this to Gian." I knew that Gian was misused, and I knew that Blaze was really innocent, but Hannah didn't know it. “You know what, I don’t care. She’s already dead, let her soul be in peace.” She smirks “—I guess we’re just a same brand of evil, are we now, Corinne?” she removed her arms on my hold and disappear from my sight completely. Why is it only now that the true behavior of the people around me is coming out? Seems like everyone has some evil on they’re own.
