Die for You-The Weeknd
CHAPTER 59
CORINNE
When I stepped out of the school parking lot, I tried calling Blaze again for several times before deciding to drive there on my own.
I guess, he was stile at practice.
And I don't think Marcus will going to waste his time on me anymore, I don't think he will want to go to the Studio to f*****g threaten me anymore, he already knew where I stand. He already knew that I accepted this marriage because of Anne. Several minutes had passed when I stopped inside my car and looked at the place where I had been a sanctuary for several years.
I got out of the car and opened the trunk to move my things faster, I opened the pull-up door of the studio, and almost nothing had changed in the place. How I will miss this place. The scent, the mess, everything about this place. I smile thinking that no matter what happens, I will not let go of this place. Because I won't. This is the first one I bought for myself, its title is named after me. I would just rest for a while at this place, but I won't abandoned this. I will figure out what I am going to do with the place next. I wanted to established my own business too, a flower shop would be good too, but I am more interested in café and pastry shop. Maybe in time, I will.
I was in the middle of packing the things I would use and my sculpture when I heard footsteps enter the studio, I know it's Blaze, maybe he just received my voicemails "You didn't need to come, I'm about to finish--" When I turned around, instead of a pair of dark chocolate eyes to greet me, it was the pair of emerald green eyes that I was very familiar with, that I thought had no effect on me anymore but I was wrong, being alone in this place with him made my body feel threatened and shaking. I am still scared of him, "What are you doing here?"
He smirks as he closed the pull-up door and I walk behind the hundreds of paintings and sculpture I did. “Waiting for your so-called husband?”
“He’s going to be here any minute now, it’s best if you leave right now.” I tried my best to be scarier than ever. But it won’t work, Marcus knows me too well.
"Don't worry, I won't make this last on what I'm going to do to you--" He took out a gun from inside his jacket and pointed it at me quickly and without hesitation. I stilled, froze, unable to move, all I can see is the ring of the gun and his eyes determined on what he intends to do. "I'm not stupid, Corinne. I know that sooner or later, you'll be begging your husband to get you out of the misery you're in right now. And I won't let you do that, to destroy my dreams, to cut off my beautiful plan."
I shake my head nonstop “I—I wouldn’t tell him anything, please.” In that moment, all I can think about is Anne. Who will be there for her when I’m no longer here anymore?
“Bullshit!”
I froze on his sudden voice raise. He walks closer to me and made his gun stick on my forehead, I just close my eyes, I know this will be the end of me. I know I am going to die. He will do anything just to silence me.
I heard a gunshot that made me shiver cold, but I didn’t feel any pain or am I just numb or dead already?
I didn’t ever try to open my eyes, and a loud guttural voice of Marcus Leis made my eyes snapped open.
He’s on the floor, bleeding on his side, and Blaze is there on top of him with a gun on his hand pointing at Marcus’ head “The f**k who gave you the right to f*****g touch my wife?”
Marcus didn’t answer him, he’s in so much pain to do so.
Blaze punched him in the face “f*****g pervert, I know what you’re doing to her all these years.” I stilled and just looked at him, he knows? “—I know what you try to do to her the night she run off to me, you f*****g bastard.” Another punch. Blaze looks at me, and offer me his gun “End it here.” He says.
My hands were shaking as I walk closer to him and hold his gun, Marcus is on the floor like a dead vegetable, bloody, shaking and crying like a f*****g madman. I pointed the gun at him “Ple—Please, Corinne. I promise I won’t bother you anymore and Anne, Please.”
Blaze punched him again, “Do it.”
“I—I mad at him, but I am not like him,”
Blaze looks at me and nods understandingly, he punched Marcus again and hold him down using his collar “This will be your final warning, Marcus Lewis. I won’t say anything about this to my Father because we still f*****g need you in our Clan. But the moment you decide to look at my wife, breath the same air as my wife, watch my wife, or even f*****g touch my wife. I will be the one to f*****g kill you, and I will promise you, it will be messy and ugly.” Another punch.
“You understand me?”
Marcus sobs and nods endlessly “I promise.”
Blaze stands up and hold my hands “Come on. One more thing, I don’t want to f*****g see you here in Downtown, this place is mine. Might tell my people to kill you with their bare hands.”
Both of us stepped out of the studio and “Got all you need?”
I nod “Yes,”
“Why didn’t you f*****g call me?” He snaps in frustration.
“I tried, but I can’t reach your number.”
He fished his phone out of his pocket and saw that his phone was dead. “Fuck.” He mutters. “You could have come into the practice.”
“I won’t. I don’t want to be a nuisance.”
“And you aren’t now?” He snaps.
“You shouldn’t have come.” I roll my eyes at him as I close my car trunk and open my driver door.
“I f*****g dare you to do that again!” He points his hands on me.
“Do f*****g what?!”
“Rolling your eyes at me, I f*****g dare you, Darling. Do it!”
I sighs and cross my arms on my chest "I hope you don't come here to save me and then just tell me that I'm a burden, which you are."
“I didn’t f*****g say that you are a burden!”
“You just say so—”
He squeezed his face in frustration “Just get in my car.”
“Wait—”
“What?”
I froze “I need to get Anne out of that hospital.”
“Already did. After the wedding, I placed her on a private hospital in Manhattan.”
“You knew that this was going to happen?” I pressed.
“Kind of.” He sighs.
“How long did you already know about him abusing me?”
“The night you run to me, I asked Diesel about it. I had my suspicions before, but Diesel confirmed it to me because he had no other choice, he knew I am the only one who can help you get out of his mansion.” He said.
I nod, I can’t even look at him in his eyes, I am embarrassed at him. He knows my secret.
His hands hold mine and guide me on his car, opening the passenger door for me. “Get in, I will have Angus get your car.”
I nod “Thank you.”
That night, when I am done taking a shower, and finished unpacking my art things. I closed the door to my now in-home studio, I looked at the sculpture I did when I am infuriatingly mad and beyond angry at Blaze. The more I look closer to the sculpture I did, the more I realized, it looks like him. I smiled at the thought, I almost killed the man who will save me for thousand times, the man I fallen in love with.
There's only one thing Blaze can do for me. This is to bring all the emotions that I can validly feel in every situation. He's making me feel human, he's making me feel that it's okay to be dependent and trust other people and show weakness. Because now, I know the answer to my questions five months ago if I can trust blaze, and the answer is yes. With all my heart and whole soul. I surrender to him, I will trust him.
I tried to fix the sculpture that I started that was more inspired than ever. I hope I can show in my piece what I really feel for my husband, and I hope this time, I hope he knows and feels that I love him because I love him, not that I love him because I need him.
As soon as I feel I had enough for the day, I stretched my bones and look at the clock, it is pass 10 o’ clock in the evening.
I went out of the studio and saw Blaze on the veranda, sleeping on our couch while the TV is on. I love the view, I love how comfortable he is with me. I love it in here that I am afraid at the same time as to when this happiness will last?
I went down and put a blanket on him and turn off the TV. His eyes snaps open easily finds mine. “I didn’t mean to wake you up.”
“Are you done?” He looks at the blanket on him and look at me.
“Yeah, did you wait for me?”
“Yep.” He stood up. “I already cooked us dinner, you should eat.”
I looked at the kitchen island full of foods, and that made me smile. “You really love to cook.”
“Just being precautious.” He smirks, I know what he meant. “Look, Corinne, I didn’t mean to make you feel that you are a burden to me.”
I nod “Yeah, I know, and I am so sorry if snap like that.”
“I just want you to tell me everything you’re going to do ahead of time. You see, we have a lot of enemies. And you being my wife is the easiest target for our rivals.”
I nod “I understand, I’m sorry.”
He nods “You should eat. I will just take a shower and we can sleep.”
“Sure.”
As soon as he went up on our room, I started eating, I swear the boy has talent. The food he’s cooking is beyond delicious, as if I ate at some face restaurants.
I fished my phone out of my jeans and dialed Hannah’s number again, to no avail. Is she really the one I saw on our wedding day? If she is, why wouldn’t she make a fuss or reached out to him? Or is she already?
A sudden pang of jealousy course through me, what if they already reached out with each other, what if they already see each other the time I need Blaze earlier is he’s with Hannah?
Even if I don’t want to feel this jealousy, because I felt that I had no right to do so. I can’t help but get worried, that Blaze will leave me sooner or later after I become dependent on him with my life? What am I going to do by then?
