Song for this Chapter: Love on the Brain-Rihanna CHAPTER 67 CORINNE I woke up to the rustling of things outside the room, when I opened my eyes, I thought it might be Blaze and Hannah. And I don't want to see them doing something that I shouldn't see as Blaze's wife. I forced myself to close my eyes again, with the intention of falling asleep again and not being hurt by something I don't know. After a while, the bedroom door opened and I closed my eyes even more. “Oh, you poor thing.” My eyes snapped open to see it was Grandma. Looking at me with those pitiful eyes. “Grandma?” that is when I felt the sting of the alcohol from last night. A hangover. I groan and massage my temple “What are you doing here?” “I thought you might need me, and boy I was right.” I smiled at her sadly, looking at the bottles of alcohol all over the room. “I needed something to make me fall asleep.” “I know, Dear. You don’t have to explain to me.” she sat down on our bed and help me fix my hair. I didn’t know what I felt around her that made me sob harder and she hugs me tighter. “It’s okay, you can cry all you want.” “He doesn’t love me, Grandma—” I stopped “—actually I think he is. But he’s guarded and I don’t even know why.” “What he did to you last night is unreasonable. I don’t like him doing that to you, believe me when his Mother’s alive, Havoc wouldn’t do that to her.” “What am I supposed to do, Grandma?” I sob. "For now, come with me to Pennsylvania. You need some time alone away from your husband." “is that even possible?” I ask. “off course, when I say it is, it is.” She smiled at me warmly, trying to make me feel better. Oh, how I wished a hug and a warm smile can help me with what I am going through right now. BLAZE Lat night, after I send Hannah home. I went to the museum with Corinne. I know she's still there because my tracker says she hasn't left the area yet. Unless she left her phone behind which is very impossible to happen. I planted a tracker on her phone without her knowledge the night she went to the house, the day she ran away from the Lewises. I just have to make sure that I know where she is always going, I have to make sure that I know where to find her. I found her standing in the dark in front of the piece I bought before the event ended. They got many offers for the piece, I just have to make sure it goes to me. When I first saw the piece, I felt mixed emotions when I saw myself in the piece she made. She captured every detail and every emotion I had and translated it into a lifeless sculpture. I don't know how to feel, because before I went to the museum, I was really angry with her. Because of the out of respect she showed me. When our marriage was done, I only asked her for one thing. And that is respect. But when she decided to keep everything about Diesel a secret from me, she removed that respect from our relationship. She also preferred Diesel all along. In the past few weeks I felt she's falling in love, she can't hide that thing from me. We had fun and laughed together. I also felt that she was comfortable with me. But it's hard for me to accept that Corinne will love me. I don't know why but I don't believe she can love me despite all what happens. I know Corinne very well, but even so, it still hasn't crossed my mind that she might just be using me. And the time will come that she will leave me for Diesel. As for Diesel, I should not be surprised that he is a traitor and intends to take the position that is not his. He will get what he deserves as soon as possible. When I bought the Angry god from the museum to destroy it, to somehow get revenge on Corinne for what she did to me. I was hoping that somehow it would lighten my heart, but it didn't. When Corinne left after she said that she loved me, I stared at the piece that I knew my wife had been working on and staying up for a long time. I didn't feel better, it got worse until I didn't know how to handle the resentment I have now. I still love her, I don’t know if there’s anything in this world could make me stop loving her. But it doesn’t change the fact that in can’t look at her in her eyes right now. That I am mad at her. I knew she had nowhere else to go so I didn't go home to our house. Our house? What will happen to us next? There is only one answer, she will not leave my side as my wife. She won't leave my sight until I say it's okay. She will stay with me until I say so. But when I went home to the Penthouse that afternoon, she was nowhere to be found. I opened all her cabinets to see that some of her clothes are gone. I open my phone and I don't receive any texts or missed calls from him, I'm starting to panic when I see a white paper lying on our bed. I walked over there and took the paper to see it was her note, her handwriting. "I will stay with Grandma in Pennsylvania for a while. I figured we need some time away from each other. Maybe to think or to let go of things that we know won't work anymore. I love you, Matty. Not because I need you, I love you because I love you. And there's no reason. I wish you well, please take care of yourself, I'll be back." That's when my emotions exploded, I threw everything that could be thrown. She doesn't need time to think about whether our marriage will work or what, she has no choice, she has no right. It was my call and not hers. I fished my car keys out of my pocket to get her back in this house with me when my phone vibrated, a text coming from Grandma. “Let her have this time, Matthew. I know you wouldn’t stop until you get her back, but the girl is broken, she needs air and time for herself. Give her that. I love you.” I stopped. I broke her. I made her do that because of my own madness and my own darkness. When she says she will be back, I will take her word for it. Until then, I will sort things out here in New York. Until she comes home.
