Song for this Chapter: Till I Met You-Angeline Quinto CHAPTER 53 CORINNE Blaze didn’t talk to me nor held me again after the announcement, all he did was chug down the bottle of scotch on our table. And I tried my best not to mind him. I know there’s still eyes watching us, looking at us because truth be told, we are the next generation of the American Mafia and the American politics, I think I might be more interested in Mafia business than in politics. I tried my best to occupy my mind with a lot of other things except Blaze’s madness towards this situation. He wants Hannah. And having to engaged with me is a very bad idea for him at least. For the remainder time at Carina and Diesel’s wedding reception. Despite the greetings that the guest extended to us, I can still see, I mean a lot of girls at our age judging me by their looks, telling that I am not worthy enough to marry the one and only Blaze Mayhem behind they’re sweet smiles thrown at me. There are indeed much more powerful and wealthier families in the industry than the Lewis’. But I think one thing that Havoc sees as an opportunity is, he saw how greedy for power and money Marcus Lewis is. That he will do anything for this. He knew how to spin Marcus at the palm of his hands. And he’s starting it right now. Making Marcus trust him even more, making Marcus believe that he’s blind to everything. But Havoc wouldn’t reign this world right now, if he’s that stupid enough to trust someone like Marcus Lewis. He has a plan, I still don’t know what is it, but I know he has. And I’ll be the one sitting in front of the audience watching him fall and bleed on his pedestal that he builds. As soon as the guest starts to get on, they’re way home, Marcus walk towards from where I am standing, Blaze is still beside me, but he’s drunk as f**k. Is it that too bad to get marry with me? “What do you want?” I cut Marcus off instantly as soon as he’s close to me. He chuckles “Just wanted to make sure that my daughter is okay.” I scoffed “I am not your daughter.” I whispered to him for Blaze didn’t heard it. “And stay away from me.” “So—” He clicks his tongue. “—my daughter grew a backbone, isn’t she?” There’s a hint of venom in his voice. He holds me on my arms, making me as far away from Blaze as possible. Off course, Blaze just looks at me with void on his eyes. “—did you f*****g tell them?” I wanted to tell him that the Mayhem’s already knew, but I have to keep my promise to Havoc. “If they already knew, they wouldn’t let Diesel marry Carina, they wouldn’t let me marry Blaze.” He tightened it grip on my arm “Marcus—” It’s Martha, his Martyr of a wife. “This is what you will put in that tiny pretty thing in your head. I hold Anne’s life. No matter who you side with, you still didn’t know whose playing the fire behind me. I dare you to open that pretty mouth of yours, you will sink in hell with me, Corinne.” He smirks. “Darling, let’s get up on our room.” Thank god Blaze decides to speak up. I looked at him still sitting on his chair, having a hard time to stand “Coming, Honey!” Marcus chuckles “You’re the f*****g Mayhem’s slut. He loved somebody else, look at him, like marrying someone like you is the end of his f*****g world. Someday, you will knock on my door kneeling to forgive you because your pretend husband got rid of you.” My tears at bay, I know what he says can come true. I know Blaze looks miserable right now just because he was going to marry me. “Don’t expect him to move the earth for you, sweetheart. He knows you’re not worth it.” Another insult. “—don’t even think that marrying him will set you out of the leash I put you through, because you’re not.” After Marcus left, I immediately helped Blaze up to the Penthouse, who until then had a hard time to stand on his own. When we reached the Penthouse, I laid him on the couch and I was about to go to the kitchen to get a small basin and a towel to wipe him, for him to cool down a bit but he stopped me by holding my hand “What did he say to you?” “Who?” “Your Father.” I sigh “Nothing, he was just asking if I will go home after this.” “Would you?” I looked at him, “Yeah, maybe.” I have to save myself the pride I deserve, I can’t keep on pushing myself to someone whose already in love with someone else. He let go of my hands “You can still stay in the house.” “You want me to?” Words of Marcus words earlier kept rolling inside my head. Tears is starting to fall and I wish it was too dark for him to see me. “I mean, if you only want to.” I sigh “Yeah, I think I’ll go home.” I turn my back at him to get I was going to get from the kitchen when he spoke again, “You already probably know the announcement my Father made today.” I didn’t turn around to face him, instead I just close my eyes and took a deep breath “I didn’t. I was just shock as you.” He scoffed “I didn’t believe you.” “You don’t have to.” He stops and I took a step away from him again, this time going to the room, I can’t look at him when he’s degrading me this much just like Marcus did. “Go to sleep.” Then I close the door behind me.
