CHAPTER 65
CORINNE
It was past midnight.
Everyone with me is gone, and I am the only one left inside the museum still looking at the piece I just made for him.
For him, who can’t love me back, for him that don’t want anything to do with me.
We’ve been happy for the weeks.
I thought it was enough to let him see that I can give him what he needs, what he wants.
But how can I show that to someone if from the very beginning he didn't need me, I am not what he wanted, I am not who he loves? I can't help but think, what about the things that happened to us, what about the happy days we spent together. I know what Hannah's come back means. I know she won't make a scene to destroy Blaze and I's marriage, she will come between Blaze and me. And our marriage will be all about us, the three of us. Dividing.
How can I handle that? Can I even?
Before it happened, I had the courage to tell myself that I could do it. As long as I love Blaze, I can handle anything. But now that I'm in the situation I'm afraid of, I don't know what to do, I feel like I'm going to explode.
I am still standing in front of my piece, lolling at it as if he had the answer to all my worries.
Crying and bending.
Professor McNeill informed me earlier that someone bought my piece for half a million dollars. I thought, it was enough for me to start a new life, but I can’t leave him. I can’t even imagine myself turning my back to him.
“Why did you sculpt me?” His voice, for a second, I thought I was only just imagining things, but when I turned around, he’s there. he’s really there in the dark, walking towards me.
“Because I want to. Is there a reason for me to sculpt you?” I tried to keep my cool, but I know the redness and the puffiness of my eyes tells a different story. “What are you doing here? I thought you have someplace to be?” I bow my head, and now, he’s standing beside me looking at the piece. The Angry God.
He scoffed “Angry god?”
I smiled sadly “Because you are.”
“I am what?” he pressed.
“An Angry god.” I smiled.
“Elaborate.”
I sigh “You look like a God, everything about you screams heaven, but you’re making everyone feel hell when you’re there.”
I looked at the eyes of my own piece. I pointed it to him “That’s my favorite part of the piece. The eyes. Because eyes can’t lie.” I looked at him, he’s looking at me. This time, I cried and let myself and let him see it. “You can’t lie to me, Blaze. I know you’ve been hiding behind that scrunch in your forehead, the fire in your eyes and the evil smirk on your lips. But you can’t hide to me.”
He nods “Really?”
“Your eyes say you love me.” I snap.
“What?”
“I know you love me. you had fallen in love with me but there is something you’ve been dying to hide from me.” My voice breaks.
He nods “Sure, make yourself believe that our marriage changes something inside me, change the way I feel about you, Sure. Live up to your imaginations, Corinne.”
“What are you afraid of?”
“Why didn’t you tell me about Diesel conspired an assassination with your father against me?” He snaps.
I froze. How did he know?
“What?”
"Why didn't you tell me?"
I wipe away my tears, and suddenly I feel cold. What would happen to Diesel?
“Answer me. just f*****g answer, me!”
I flinch. “I—I can’t tell you that.” I sob and he shoved me out of his face and started smashing the piece I made, I tried to stop him but he’s unstoppable and he’s beyond mad.
“Blaze stop it!”
He pushed me causing me to fall to the floor, he smirks "You know the funny thing, you can't stop me. Whatever I want to do with this piece of yours I can do it, because I bought it."
He bought it just to break it.
I didn’t move, I just watch him break the piece that was so important to me.
“You are a fake b***h! You didn’t love me, you didn’t ever love me, Corinne. You just saw me as an easy way out of your shitty life!” Another smash.
He stopped, and all I can hear is ragged breathing, I saw that his hands were bleeding.
I sobs, stood up and fished my handkerchief on my pocket, I walk closer to him, I hold his hands and covered his bloodied hands with my handkerchief as I sobs. “I love you, I fell in love with you. I tried telling you so many times. On my wedding vow, on this piece, every day.” I looked at him, his eyes were bloodshot. As soon as I am finished wrapping his hands with my handkerchief “Too bad, you chose not to believe me.” I walk away from him again.
